That thing is a joke. How is Oklahoma in front of Texas, when they beat them?

I knew they would do their best to get Florida back in there. Texas's loss was a better one than Ole Miss.

    What an annoying system.

I like Florida's ranking. I want UT to jump Oklahoma though. UT vs. Florida would be an awesome game.

UT was ahead of OU in the BCS last week, even when they were No. 7 in the coaches poll and 73 points behind OU. This week, they're No. 5 and only 14 points behind OU -- a virtual tie. I think there's a lot of complaining over nothing. If OU beats Tech, UT controls its own destiny to play for the national championship, imo.

Because the computers have UT ahead of OK?

And Floida is overated...they lost at home to a mediocre team...why are they ahead of UT and OU?

Also, Texas Tech should be number 1....Alabama is not all that impressive.

While UT should still be ranked ahead of OU, Texas did gain 2 spots from last week. We jumped Penn State obviously, but also overrated USC. The gap between OU and Texas dropped from 63 points to 14, which is a tiny number to overcome. A convincing Texas win during OU's bye week should do it, but then holding the #4 spot would be a tough task if OU wins out the last 2 weeks.

For now, yes. Now, if OU were to beat Tech and OSU, their computer rankings would be very similar to Texas. But I expect that just like what happened today, more and more humans will reflect back over the entire season and put UT ahead of OU.

Everyone talks about how horrible the BCS is, I can tell you this much, it is better than how they once decided the national title games with the different polls.

The one thing I can point to that I like about the BCS is that it is essentially unbiased and is not going to overrate a team. If team has a strong strength of schedule with very few losses...I believe they will have a chance at the national title.

I thought it was right for Texas Tech and possibly other teams to jump over Penn State...who probably shouldn't have been anywhere near the top 5 with USC and couple of odd SEC and Big 12 teams. Also, I hope Penn State doesn't get a bid to the Rose Bowl, let a big 12 team play USC, or one of the odd teams out from the national championship (Florida-SEC, Texas, Oklahoma).

Penn St losing was a godsend. As everyone knows a Big Ten team has no business up there. In fact no Big Ten team should ever have a ranking higher than 10. Now we're almost guaranteed an SEC vs Big 12 matchup for the championship which would be in the best interest of the fans.

Hopefully USC plays the other SEC or Big 12 team that doesn't make it. Penn St should play Utah or Boise St.

One thing that got me thinking last night say Tech does lose to OU, OU then loses to OSU. I know Tech would win the big 12 south but would Texas then move to #2 in the bcs rankings, meaning they would still play for the national championship despite not winning the big 12. Just something I thought they would throw out there. Hopefuly Tech will win vs. OU which will be a very tough task.

Just saw JBRockets already posted this scenario. I think if Tech loses to OU, OU beats OSU, they will pass Texas. As for the 2nd spot in the BCS game do they go by rankings too, or is that head to head, or just selected at random?

I agree. Florida can win it all with ease. I'd take them over anyone with the exception of Bama. But I wouldn't take Bama over some of the Big 12 teams. Paper, rock, scissors type scenario.

i honestly think florida is the best football team playing right now... i can't see them losing to anyone. but tech is definitely making their case.

From everything I've read, OU is very likely to pass UT if they win out.

OU is a better team IMO. But Stoops would blow any major bowl anyways. So ya, if I was a Texas fan I would be upset.

If I was a Texas fan, I'd be upset that people are still calling OU a better team when they already beat OU on a neutral field.

    Harris Poll

    1 Bama
    2 Texas Tech
    3 Florida
    4 Texas
    5 OU
    6 USC

Made a jump from 6 to 4. This further validates my theory that people are beging to wise up on the OU being better than Texas nonsense.

I'm not an OU or UT fan but I don't like the logic that just because team X beat team Y, that X should be ranked higher than Y. Is it not possible for a neutral observer of football teams to determine that one team is the better overall team than another, but the matchups just favor team X when they play team Y?
