The #1's for OU and Florida make sense if you're voting who you think is the best team. Lots of people think Alabama is just waiting to lose. It's no different than people not voting Utah above the 1-loss teams, despite Utah having 2 wins vs. ranked teams compared to Alabama's 1.
I agree, even though Bama may not be as good as some other teams, the fact that they are the lone undefeated team in the automatic-bid conferences should make everyone vote #1 for them .... And Texas is in big trouble if it's not higher than OU in the polls.
Not really. This is actually somewhat good news for UT. We made up a considerable margin and the two #1 votes are all that keeps OU ahead of UT in this poll. Stoops' brother Mike does.
Yes and no. Overall, it still looks very bad, but it looks a lot better than it did 15 minutes ago. I don't think anyone expected UT to pull into a virtual tie with OU in the coaches. However, it seems likely for OU to have a computer edge based on early returns, and UT would likely have to have a substantial lead in the Harris to offset that. However, there's at least a small chance now. It's clear based on this swing that the head-to-head argument was persuasive to a lot of people. But it probably won't be enough, because of the computers.
I think I remember reading that if OU and UT were to tie it would come down to the last possible tiebreaker: a random draw. I can't source that, though Also, a similar swing in the Harris poll would likely be enough for UT. The problem is the Harris poll is even less predictable than the Coaches.
Mack had a vote and didn't vote UT number 1. If he did, UT would have been number 2 in the coaches poll. The guy has class.
Next weeks' poll. Which sucks because we'll never know who voted OU #1 this week and I'm guessing the idiot who put Tech at #1 will change the vote next week.
Mack should have voted UT number 1 and OU 25th.....if he really wanted a playoff....make a point of how silly it all is.... DD
No it wouldn't be enough. We need a much larger swing. Remember the Harris is going to have to be convincing enough to top the computer and the AP (both are towards OU).
Agreed. It gets announced after FOX's NFL coverage (which should end today around 3:30 PM) I believe.
