    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...-mike-dantoni-go-rockets-small-ball-here-stay

    So here’s the setup.

Tilman only cares about money, Harden only cares about playing with who he wants to play with, and is arrogant enough to keep runnning full speed into a wall, thinking he can maybe breakthrough and if he doesn’t, the GM is a moron who needs to hire better help.

You already heard Harden scapegoat House. Whose absence means nothing in the grand scheme, and I’m a fan.

As much as I’ve trashed him, that leaves D’Antoni as a scapegoat.

He’s done. They’ll hire another coach with immense pressure to overachieve.

Harden and Fertitta CAN’T be wrong, their egos won’t allow it. However they have low standards and expectations.

This leaves Morey in a limited but comfortable spot to do what he likes; microball.

All in all no one is ACTUALLY committed to winning. Harden wanting CP3 gone for scheme reasons, Tillman’s money-grubbing, and Morey’s insistence on microball proves it.

    Harden isn’t requesting a trade.
What’ll happen is, for profitability sake, they’ll make a “splash”, to keep themselves in the headlines and keep dumb fans hopeful.

You guys have low standards too.

Joe Johnson in 2018? Remember that disaster? A guy who had one playoff game against the tiny Clippers and you guys loved having him on. Thought he could beat the Warriors.

Then Carmelo Anthony the next off-season. another fake aggressive nothing move.

    Westbrook was the ultimate culmination.

Expect RoCo or Gordon to get traded for some worthless big name just to keep the ego and greed driven cycle going. And some terrible waiver veteran.

With no cap space, flexibility, or direction, that’s all that’s left.

Small ball may work . . .. but it will rely on fresh bodies
You will have to go 9 to 10 deep
    15~25 minutes each

God No! 5 out will work but stop getting short people to do a tall man's Job. No more 6' centers (westbrook). No more Roco @ Center. Keep Roco James and Tucker. The rest can go!

I applaud Harden for not giving up man. I really do. But damn...man....Westbrook needs to go. Also being small doesnt mean not having a center, we dont know what Morey is going to do.

get a big that can shoot

if they think they can roll out Tucker as C for 82 games next season and have Harden defending in the post all year, then they’re not serious about winning

We arent winning as long as Westbrook is here, that whole quad injury stuff im not buying. This roster is done. Unless you can get Lillard, its time to move on.

The East is doing smallball, it's not like Mike has sole patent on it.

Is it a scapegoat if they are the cause of the problem? If so Dantoni is no scapegoat.

A shooting big that can spaced the floor. Afterall it's supposed to be skill ball not small ball. If other team tries to hunt our big; we can always downsize. We've had plenty of practice for that. It's about having options.

A good reason to not watch them next year.

Was Golden State’s death lineup not considered small ball? I realize they had centers on the roster that got legit minutes but their most feared lineup was a small ball lineup. To me, the Rockets loss was not a referendum on its playing style, it was a referendum on MDA’s execution of the playing style and coaching ability.

    Christian Wood
    PJ
    Cov
    Harden
    Russ

I’d look at upgrading the PF spot as well, and we have got to bolster the bench with some scorers...enough with the low skill specialists and guys that can’t shoot like Rivers...get some guys that can ball and actually shoot to come off the bench...our bench has been worst in the league the last 2 years

Mmm no one liked joe Johnson. I certainly didn’t. And ofc I didn’t like Carmelo signing here, that was just a cp3 request more than anything. Which rubbed Harden the wrong way. Harden prob felt cp3 was having too much control or more control than Harden. And we know the rest, the Melo experiment didn’t work and the team was player horrible.

aside from that I agree with you. Harden wanted cp3 gone and Russ here but he didn’t see the bigger picture. Russ can’t shoot so the court would shrink just like when cp3 was playing bad last year. Chris was at fault too since he didn’t show any signs of improving instead he seemed to be getting worse and slower.

Anyway here’s what I hope happens. Well I wish Tilman would just sell the team but that won’t happen.
So I’m sure Mike is gone especially after he was unable to adjust this series. They need someone like Pop but I doubt he will come here. It would be more likely that we traded Harden to the spurs and maybe pop would help Harden and they would surround him with good players or good shooters.

So coach gone and I would trade Ego and get anything or something in return. He might be and okay defender but we need someone that can shoot and be more efficient on his drives or handling the ball.

I would keep the team the same with a better coach. And after the House incident I guess he is gone. So we move him too and we don’t need Clemons. If it were up to me I would keep the other guys and hire a new coach maybe Mike Budenholzer, Dwane Casey or Nick Nurse (maybe get Pop somehow :p)

But imo Tilman might just fired Mike, fire Daryl since China will prob still ban any rockets games until he leaves. ( obvious reasons why the refs had been atrocious since OKC series).
Also it sucks but until Daryl leaves we aren’t winning anything. Not after his post which is stupid but it’s the reality.
He will Trade Eric, House, prob Russ and Tilman will probably not resign anyone who isn’t under a contract. If anything maybe just Harden will be left from last year just like other years. But if that happens Harden will ask for a trade.
So if Harden asks to be traded I’m sure Tilman would jump of excitement. And just rebuild his cheap team with no big contracts. If Harden gets traded hopefully he is traded to a good team so he can get a chip.
So many what if scenarios if cp3 didn’t get hurt, if the nba wasn’t rigged and they had refs a fair game in the Gsw series, if cp3 had play better last year, if jimmy had sign here cp3 would still be here. Imagine cp3 from this year with jimmy, Harden and maybe Covington still would be traded here.

    anyway we will see.

    I wouldn't exactly label D'Antoni a scapegoat.

I mean the guy had over 12 months and countless hours of real in game tape to combat a James Harden double team.

Why are we in the second round of the playoffs and he still has his other 4 players running around like chickens with their heads cut off when that exact scenario happens again.

Shipping him out is completely justified.

This article is dumb! No coach in their right mind would agree to coach this roster! None! No center? Ya peace! I get the idea of high volume 3's. I do but microball just so Westbrook works out is the dumbest thing unless you can miraculously land a Nurkic or Jokic!
