Well with the nets signing JJ ( 30 mill per season) that means if dwill resigns they cant afford dwight . Dallas has dirk making almost half the teams salary so if dwill signs there Dwight cant come either. He is basically stuck with the team he is traded to. Lakers dont want him without commitment BEFORE accepting trade while giving away future center and houston is offering anything on the roster. In order to keep dwight if traded , rockets gonna need to do with nets did and give away players for cap space. I suggest that if the trade happens , houston needs to amnesty scola and trade martin ASAP to make room for a more established player on the roster. Josh smith is wanting trade as we speak and we get rid of alot of new guys we can add him to roster since ATL is rebuilding. here is my proposal with players we have signed: Dwight, Asik Dmo, ? ? , ? ? , ? ? , ? fill in the blanks guys
Dwight/Asik Smith/DMo Parsons/Morris Lee/Lamb Dragic/Livingston That starting lineup is a complete defensive beast with loads of scoring off the bench.....
There is a small hole in your theory. If Dwill signs with Dallas, Howard can join JJ. If Dwill signs with the Nets, Howard can sign with Dallas. Howard being traded to Rockets does not mean he will stay with the Rockets if he can't join Dwill. He will explore free agency and probably go where he can team up with another star. Other teams out there will clear cap space if they think they can attract Howard.
if dwight really wants to, he could be the same punk he was this year and try and force a sign and trade for Joe Johnson (and threaten to sulk all year and screw his team over otherwise).. which i think would require more players from the rockets because dwight would be BYC. And I think I'd call his bluff and keep him if that was the case
You are right. It is starting to make sense for Houston and the Lakers now that the Nets have taken themselves out of it with Joe Johnsons contract. The potential suitors has grown to include Atlanta though and they have Josh Smith already. So we have to obtain Josh Smith for relatively cheap for a shot to land Dwight Howard.
Nets just acquired Devin Harris who expires next summer... If T-Mac stays with the Hawks, he will get a ring. They are going to have CP3, Josh Smith, and Howard before it's all said and done moving forward.
Josh Smith has asked to be traded several times. He actually told the Hawks that he will not be resigning with the team next summer.
