Cp3 has not been that great this season.

Alluding to what Max Kellerman said this morning maybe the timing is fortuitous and Cp3 will be healthy for the games that matter (if they even get it in of course).

But cp3 looks like he’ll be out for an extended period, So the question lies... what has cp3 done for the rockets in the recent winning streak before the heat game last night that The team can replace?

    Blazer: 2-12 fg 0-4 3p 11 point 10 assist 10 rebounds

    Lakers: 3-10 fg 3-4 3p 14 points 9 assist 1 reb

    Grizzlies: 3-10 2-7 3p 10 points 10 assist 1 rebound

    Jazz: 3-10 fg 1-4 3p 11 points 9 assist 3 rebounds

    Wizards: 7-11 5-9 3p 21 points 8 assost 2 rebounds

And before he went out last night he was 1-3 fg 0-2 3p 4 points 4 assist 1 rebound

So The bottom line is other than that exceptional game vs the Wizards Cp3 has been a fairly average if not below average player. And his shooting has not been good. Where the Rockets seem to miss him the most obviously is his facilitating.

The solution is not all impossible!

So what player do you guys think can the rockets aquire that can replicate his facilitating and can shoot a decent percentage from the three?

Maybe time to take a flyer on Jimmer freddettes shooting? Hows his passing game?

Nobody can replicate CP3s leadership and role on this team. If there was a player that could do it for a lot cheaper, I'm sure we would have that player lol.

CP3, for as crappy as he has played offensively, has still been huge for our team. It cannot be replicated and there is certainly no free agent out there that can help us replace what CP3 brings to this team.

A lot of people are mad we paid CP3 a lot of money, but reality is that we had to. We had no choice. I bet none of the naysayers can give me a better plan of what the Rockets could have done. None whatsoever. There was no other solution this summer. More than likely no other solution these next couple of summers either.

If anything, if Morey really could of had Jimmy for PJ/EG, then Morey ****ed up royally right there.

Really? Below average players are getting those type of assists numbers and providing the defense that he does...gimme a break. And no Jimmer Fredette will never replace anything close to even an injured CP.

He's not been is superstar mode (like last season), scoring besides of playmaking. But his playmaking is still irreplaceable on this team. We are 0-5 without him for a reason.

@ElPigto nailed it with the leadership aspect.

Harden couldn’t lead a knife out of a wet paper bag. Without CP3 this team goes down to Utah in the second round.

I was trying to start a thread "symptoms and solutions", but I don't have time.

Symptom: Morey is unable to select the "right dog" in summer.
    Solution:

Symptoms: MDA is giving heavy minutes to Harden and Paul.

he was absolutely fine until he gets injured. He runs the offense his own way. I don't even like it when it's Paul that desperately pulls up jumpers for points. We are at our best when everyone gets open 3's and lobs.

    Those assist numbers are great

Not to mention the defensive generalship

You are out of your mind

    What an asinine thread

    It's mind boggling actually

    Go eat some brain foods

CP3 is more than stats though. His leadership and other intangibles are difficult to measure but my guess is that some advanced stats guy can point to ones that are off the charts. Also, it's hard to ignore the simple fact that the Rockets suck without him (bad traditional stats and all).

The drop-off from CP3's absence coupled with the lacking depth won't be pretty. It will be a struggle just to play .500 ball, which in and of itself will require Harden playing insane minutes.

Bottom line is that Rockets need to make a trade, but any trade the rockets pull off will be unlikely to have a major impact.
Maybe things work out, but things are looking bleak to say the least...

Look cp3 can lead off the bench. Sometimes its as simple as getting a guy oppsite of Harden who can put the ball in the basket. Simplicity is brillance. This team cant seem to understand that.

CP has heart, and our team doesn’t have a lot of that good stuff..

He probably keeps our locker room together too.

Say what you want, he’s the leader of the team.

Honestly his on court drop off has been extreme but he does seem to be a guy people respect and rally around. You don’t necessarily have to be the best player to be a vocal rallying point on court.

Yet the team went 55-27 the previous season prior to trading for CP3. Not diminishing what CP3 brings to this team insofar as leadership, but Harden has been a better leader in the last several seasons that what you are implying.

With a much crappier team around him to boot …. He didn't have a two allstars in Blake Griffin and DJ to throw lobs to.

But its really not though, we have the number one offense in the league in the last 20 or so games. We are 5th right now. Yea Paul could be more efficient but the real problem is the defense, its not really an offensive problem.

Maybe you package him up at the trade deadline once hes healthy and playing a few games for some rebuillding pieces around harden and to get ready to set your self up to splash for 2019 free agent period. Honestly he is not going to be the key to a championship, i think there is just one more chance at putting the right mix around harden, and then hes going to ask for a trade to leave.

A disguised trade CP3 post. We are not going to get 80 cents on the dollar if we were to trade him.

Which team will give up their promising stars for a 40M contract in CP3 locked in for a while.

So, why bother, are you saying we should just get 50 cents on the dollar or even less. I am not. He is still CP3. So sit tight, and readjust your mindset. It is what it is.
