Lack of communication on defense

I remember McHale saying that the back line communication was horrible. No one was talking. That was earlier this season.

Perhaps that's why we wanted Chuck so badly. We really need to get another vet. This is where someone like KG would've been great. A veteran big is likely a priority for Morey and I think Cyberx mentioned this, too. So, I guess this is a big problem that likely won't be fixed through practice. Maybe DMo will help , but don't expect this to change with TJ, Harrell, or Capela. I'm assuming Dwight is the exception, so once he plays every game, that will also help.

I don't need you to be friends off the court. I do need you to talk on the court. How do you not communicate on the court?

It's nice to tell everyone after the game is over that you need to do this, this and this, but if you don't go out and do it, it doesn't matter.

After the Rockets’ 110-98 loss to the Mavericks on Saturday night, coach Kevin McHale said he didn’t feel like having more deep, long discussions with his players was going to make a difference in their so far disappointing season.

“We’ve had a lot of heart-to-hearts,” McHale said. “As a matter of fact, we talk too much. Talking doesn’t win basketball games. I’ve never seen talking win anything unless you are talking on defense about what coverages you are in, how you’re going to help the guy, where the help is.

“The rest of the stuff doesn’t work. If you’re talking, you’re not playing.”

The only talking McHale wants him team to do is on defense.

Forward Corey Brewer said defensive communication has been the team’s biggest issue all season.

“We know the coverages, but if you don’t talk to each other out there, you aren’t going to get it done,” Brewer said. “Until we talk out there on the court, we are never going to get a win.”

Harden thinks he has to make -10 effort when guarding Allen. You let Allen take jumpshots but don't just ****ing stand there doing jack **** and stare at him. Close out just a little if you're not even going to do anything you lazy b*stard.
