http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-b...los-angeles-lakers-playing-win-234518302.html Because why wouldn't he say that? Laughable.
LA has a frontrunner fanbase. Can't show any chinks in the armor. Let them ride the wave of delusion.
"And with the 14th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select..." Oh, how sweet it shall be!
When you have no hope left, it's always good to look at the bright side of things! If there's 1% chance that they can win, hold on to that 1% for dear life. You never know, Nash might break out at the age of 40 (hit his 4th prime) and Gasol might find his knees again through miracle medicine, and Kobe can come back with a robotic ankle. You just never know what can happen with the Lakers.
Before the James Harden trade last year, Morey also repeatedly said that the Rockets goal was to make the playoffs. Yeah, GMspeak is GMspeak.
While I hate the Lakers, I can't say that his comments are ridiculous or delusional. PLAYING to win is not the same as actually winning. His comments are very valid. The Lakers will play to win, but will lose a lot of game in doing so haha. I agree that 14th pick is in the books or 8th seed and another 1st round exit if they are lucky.
Am I the only one who feels that the Lakers may do better than they did last year? With full training camp, less personnel issues, more chemistry and athleticism, they might just win about 47 games or so.
Washed up Nash. Kobe coming off severe injury. Pau aging. Marginal role players at best. Coach who can't adapt to his personnel. I do think they are being a tad underrated, and will be in the playoff hunt, but there's little to no chance they outperform their team from last year in my opinion.
All I want for a wish is for the Lakers to actually make the playoffs and meet the Rockets. Life is good in Rocket land.
I don't think they have more athleticism. They've added some and lost even more. And while they may have less personnel issues, they have less quality personnel too. In the end, too many health question marks. I think they'll get a high lotto pick, even though they'll try hard to win.
yeah Yeah I know it would be far fetched but just to bounce the Lakers out of the playoffs and move on would be sweet. Imagine the ratings.
If they have a healthy Nash and Pau and Kobe returns in the first half of the season there is almost no way they lose 50 games. IMO anyway.
