Comparing Houston to the entire SoCal area? Actually Houston is more than just Houston. We have MORE than enough lounges, bars, top rated eateries, galleries, and so forth to keep us entertained here. S--t to do? A major chunk of Californians don't have time to do all that "exciting s--t." Lots of them don't have the money, others work two jobs just to eat and pay bills! No need to look out that way. I lived in SoCal for four years. It's kind of over-rated. Plus with all the migrants moving into Houston, there's been an influx of new hangouts of all sorts coming in...H-town is an exciting on-going social experimentation unto its own.
Don't get me wrong I love Houston and grew up here but it's not Socal. Bars, lounges, etc can be found in any city. You can't find hiking, the beach, mountains, Vegas, Mexico and I haven't even gotten into traveling to other nearby cities for a weekend. I guess it also depends on what you like to do as well, so what might work for me might not be good for you. The weather is damn near perfect too. Sure the cost of living is more but you're also compensated for it as well. If you are an outdoor person, then Houston is a bit more challenging.
OMG!!!! I'm literally shaking due to laughteraand shedding tears!!! I imagined the music from Saw playing while reading.
