But Harden only works half the time - on the offensive end of the court... the other half not so much...

    sorry... couldn't resist...lol

both teams being in 9th place is the reason the rockets are on the better side of this trade

Which guy was worth the raise?

    Parsons, I say no.
    Budinger, no.
Brooks signing in Sacto after trade to Phoenix, no.
Morris.... ehhh I'd say he was worth his raise.
    Patterson, borderline, but nothing special.

Can't really think of any guys that really flourished in a way that they didn't in Houston after leaving from their rookie deal or being traded.

    The Deal

Sixers get: Center Joel Anthony, 2017 Denver second-round pick

Rockets get: Rights to 2011 draft pick Chukwudiebere Maduabum

    Houston Rockets: B

Having acquired Anthony from the Pistons earlier in the day, the Rockets quickly flipped him to Philadelphia in a move that allows them to avoid paying the luxury tax this season.

    Trade Tracker 2016: Deal-by-deal breakdown
Here's a look at the trade deadline deals going down in the NBA.
While the savings this year are relatively modest -- about $4.6 million in salary and taxes, plus whatever the distribution of tax among non-taxpaying teams ends up being -- there's long-term benefit in deferring the possibility of being a repeater well down the line.

Maduabum, last seen coming off the bench in Finland earlier this season, is not an NBA prospect.

oh yeah forgot about that farce.

The author of this article just a few days ago posted the CRAP that Harden should be traded for Gallinari.

And people still quoting him in cf.

Interesting. Don't see how we could have gotten better enough to matter without including Dwight. This season is toast. We got a first round pick for a guy who doesn't play and a streak shooter, and shed salary in return. I just think you are disappointed because nothing major happened. It remains to be seen whether we've gotten any worse. And I expect Joel Anthony to be waived.

So you're ok with throwing away the season? You do realize purposely losing or purposely not tryna win could potentially create a losing environment among the organization? Our players already don't play hard. This could make FA's not want to come here

So who do we root for in the playoffs? Won't be the Rockets, apparently by design and intent.

Getting the 8th or 7th seed and getting swept by the Spurs or Gsw would have a harder impact on ur reputation.

I'd rather take 2 first round picks (1 lottery) then a playoff sweep.

We have virtually no chance to win a championship this year. Kudos to Morey for accepting reality.

He gained a nice trade asset in the last minute that can help us get perhaps a big name in the offseason. I like this version of Morey that's thinking towards the future. The Morey trying to complete a jigsaw puzzle by getting guys like Lawson, re-signing Brewer, and trading for JSmith hasn't worked out.

I still believe they'll spend when it's time to spend. Because when that time comes it'll be for multiple years and could set you up for large repeater tax payments.

Case in point, Les will probably once again give DM money to play with to buy back a second round pick... As happens almost every year.

On its own this is an A trade for the Rockets. They got back more for a FA to be then anyone else. A guy who has added 0 value to the team. Who has never helped in the playoffs. Etc.

The fact that everyone so bummed out about losing DMo in this deal speaks to the lack of logic. It's the whole DMo to the rescue fantasy. Whatever.

The guy they lost that actually has been valuable is Marcus Thorton. Horrible defender but came in multiple times and shot the Rockets into games.

Combined with "signals" about saving money, with the DMo hope, unfounded as it might be, etc... Sure give it a B.

But from a win now perspective the gamble is by trading Thorton, the coach can't be so tempted to put him in anymore, and maybe his horrendous defense was actually outweighing his occasional JRSmith like streaky shooting.

He didn't actually say Isaiah is an MVP candidate, did he? Is that part of your story about the media analysts ranking the Celtics so high this year?

No. Boston 50 win team was preseason. And not about only pelton that said it.
Pelton is the cherry on top though. He said it like some weeks ago about IT....

Believe what you want. The guy doesnt watch games. You watch more than him im sure.

You are on the same side of this as DaDakota. Just think about that for a second.

And you can't evaluate this trade until you see what happens with that pick. We weren't going *anywhere* this season.
