He was a even former Rockets draft pick: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=ap-obit-kessler&prov=ap&type=lgns
Ugh, horrible story. What a stud; I am sorry I did not hear about his becoming an orthopod until his death.
I've never heard of this guy, but RIP. This proves to Stern that not all NBA players are thugs like he'd imagine. Some could actually be a surgeon.
It's scary how people can just collapse and die during a pick-up game. Especially at the young age of 40 and not jumping to conclusions but I'd imagine he was probably in pretty good shape too. Just terrible. RIP +
cmon man...Tecmo NBA on NES. He played for the heat i didnt know that we actually drafted him and traded him to the heat for carl herrera...
FYI : we got Carl Herrera and Dave Jamerson for him. Sad news - especially for somebody that successful outside of the sports ranks. It's a shame we don't hear about these guys and instead always hear about the goons that always get in trouble.
wow. i remember when we drafted kessler. good size. good j for a big man. limited upside (on the court, who knew about his upside in the OR). RIP +
RIP. I always love playing pickup basketball with the fellas. Playing in Houston heat/humidity, your white beater gets drenched in sweat quick. We always bring water with us when we play.
so sudden, probably either a blood clot that traveled or an unseen heart condition/abnormality. i've met some unhealthy-looking overweight doctors but not SURGEONS. anyway rip, death sux
