Hard to believe but the Champions League kicks off today. My group winners perdictions in bold. I believe ESPN is only showing 1 game today at 1:30 (Liverpool vs Porto). I wish they would televise more games than that, instead of their weak programming of classic rodeo, poker bs, nascar, bowling, or any number of other bs shows like around the horn. Why can't there be a perfect channel that shows most of the best CL, EPL, LA Liga, and Serie A games?????? GROUP A Liverpool FC Porto Olympique Marseille Besiktas GROUP B Chelsea Valencia FC Schalke 04 Rosenborg GROUP C Real Madrid SS Lazio Werder Bremen Olympiakos GROUP D AC Milan Benfica Glasgow Celtic Shakhtar Donetsk GROUP E FC Barcelona Olympique Lyon VfB Stuttgart Glasgow Rangers GROUP F Manchester United AS Roma Sporting Lisbon Dynamo Kiev GROUP G Inter Milan PSV Eindhoven CSKA Moscow Fenerbahce GROUP H Arsenal FC Sevilla Slavia Prague Steaua Bucharest
The Arsenal-Sevilla match is going to be spectacular, both teams are playing at the top of their games and Sevilla has extra motivation after Puerta's unfortunate death. Of course, it's not going to be on TV I'm thinking 2-1 Gunners, possibly a shutout if Gallas is healthy again. Our backline has turned from a weakness into a strength this season, with Clichy taking a huge leap forward, Sagna looking like another one of Wenger's brilliant signings, and King Kolo being King Kolo.
The Arsenal Seville game is on Setanta so you should be able to find a sports bar with the game on tomorrow. Is it me or is it weird seeing Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup?
Anyone catch the Porto Liverpool match? I was at work. I was following it on the internet and the writer was blasting Liverpool for looking terrible.
Even worse, the closest Setanta bar is 14 miles from work Unless anybody here knows of any Setanta bars in Humble...
Chelsea tying Rosenborg at home. A TIE!!!!! At HOME!!!! To Rosenborg!!!! Problem for Chelsea is that they're in the midst of a scoring drought. It looks like slim pickings until Drogba returns.
Puerta's number was retired . I thought it was a great gesture and my heart is with Sevilla all the way
the league will be good this time because there aren't the dominant unbeatable teams anymore. the finals will be unexpected.
Well it will be unexpected, if by unexpected you mean two of these nine teams Arsenal Chelsea Man U Liverpool Real Madrid FC Barcelona AC Milan Inter Milan (maybe Roma) They should go to more of a one and done format - it's the only way the smaller clubs have a shot, barring a miracle like Jose w/Benfica or whoever it
The small teams probably like the group stage since it means more money for them, guaranteed 3 home games vs most likely 1. When they get bumped out of the group they can go to UEFA Cup for more money and a better chance at winning.
