Actually, it appears that the investigation into public corruption by her likely goes back to at least April 2015, but this is the first we are hearing about it.

This investigation into corruption activities by the leading Democratic candidate for President Hillary Clinton is related to her taking money through her foundation for favors granted to foreign powers while she was Secretary of State. The information that has informed the FBI appears to have come from her emails.

Let's not forget that the backup company apparently retained backups of this data which it appears that Hillary was initially unaware of. The server with that information was willingly turned over the the FBI and the data on it was apparently recovered.

Of course none of us have seen any of that yet, as only the emails which she provided to the State Department (less than half of the total she had on her homebrew server) have been released to the public, which was done in connection with a FOIA request.

Nevertheless, the FBI has apparently seen those emails that she supposedly destroyed and is reviewing them as part of this investigation. These emails are the ones that Hillary did not want anyone to see. The ones that we have seen are the ones that her campaign team apparently vetted and determined would not be a problem for public release.

So, the really bad stuff has only been seen so far by the FBI. But it sounds like they are moving towards the end of this investigation within the next couple of months.

This is not looking good for Hillrod.

Was there already a thread on the FBI's investigation of Hillary Clinton on corruption charges? I must have missed that one.

Could you provide a link to that please?

By all means, I hope all these attacks on Clinton actually work and prop up the candidate that many of us actually want, Bernie. And if the GOP base is r****ded enough to make Trump the GOP candidate, it's a done deal. Bernie is the next president of the United States.

More likely it will be Sanders vs Cruz.

If you are hoping for a Trump and Bernie election, I would be very afraid.

Why? It would guarantee a Bernie presidency.

I don't think that's true. Just as many of us are alarmed by Trump, just as many are alarmed at the idea of taking Bernie seriously.

His message often resonates, but I'm telling you: we are mammals and the basics are important. If you come across like a wild-eyed crazy professor, that will hurt you in the voting booth, just on a gut-reaction level.

This basic mammal thing is why I think Rubio still has a good shot in the GOP primary. He just comes across as calm, collected and decent. He has the nonverbal reading as presidential. Bernie is the opposite of that, with the air bongo-playing and eyes that say "I take speed all day long."

Bernie Sanders apologized for stealing Clinton's data.

You never do that. It makes you look weak.

If anything, the "widening" of this investigation will help Clinton prove her case later this year. It's been nearly 3 years. No charges. Just accusations. Republicans will look whiny if they bring this up in 6 months. And nobody likes a whiner, or an apologizer.

I've seen several polls placing Trump against Bernie and Bernie has larger margins versus Trump vs Hillary in similar polls conducted by the same pollsters using the same method.

The area that Trump would suffer the most in a general election between him and Sanders is with the debates. Trump had the luxury of being in debates with 10+ other opponents on stage with limited responses by each candidate which can mask a candidate who lacks little to no nuance with their policies which Trump I think everyone here agrees is guilty of.

In a general election with only two candidates, a candidate can't hide their lack of nuance. Bernie, a seasoned politician who has in depth knowledge of how things like the legislature actually works, would absolutely demolish him with nuance while Trump keeps on propagating vague platitudes.

Mojoman is actually right that Bernie wouldn't have that advantage against someone like Cruz or Rubio because those candidates can hold their own in 1 on 1 debates that requires nuance. It would be much more even but at this point it seems as if the GOP base is shooting themselves in the foot with Trump still in a commanding position.

You make a good point about debates, though you may underrate the increasing power of vague platitudes in our "post-fact" age.

On polls, I think they are fairly useless this far out, with those kind of "what if" conjectures presented to the 0.01% of the population that still has land lines. It's just almost purely noise, IMHO.

I'm not sure who's crazier between Bernie and Trump.

You are correct. Facts no longer matter. Candidates blatantly lie on a regular basis without much push back at all. Never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter.

I honestly don't think either one is crazy.

Bernie looks crazy, but he only has ONE crazy belief: that the American democrat system can be rid of big money influence, that we can somehow reverse the oligarchy.

And Trump talks crazy, but he only has ONE crazy belief: that Donald Trump is as smart and capable as he himself thinks.

Why do you think Bernie is crazy?

Trump is just playing a shtick.

GOP and Hillary have common goals at this point in the race: get rid of Bernie.

Hillary loves it. She's really milking this whole crucifixion.

She's been tied to corruption back when Bill was Governor of Arkansas.

Somehow along the way she become the face of feminism in the US? It shouldn't excuse her history. Image making is all that matters...

How on Earth did it become a race between Trump & Hillary. The worst candidates for both sides.
