Have heard a few rumblings about expanding it once every nba team gets their own D-League affiliate. The idea being they will need (at least the first year) quite a few new players to fill out the D-League rosters (more teams = more players). http://247sports.com/Bolt/GMs-open-to-expanding-the-NBA-Draft-as-D-League-grows-39454404 Was snooping around the 76ers SBN page and found a theory that it could happen as soon as 2017 with the new CBA. They assert Hinkie has been intentionally trading for 2nd round picks in the 2017-2019 range because they will have a higher value in a multi-round draft than they do now. Anyway, thought it was interesting. If we see Morey doing the same maybe there's fire to this smoke.
Something I've been thinking about lately. Baseball is by far the best product of any league, and the main reason is minor league teams. Football is terrible most weeks, just watch any team either without a qb or with a rookie one. Basketball can hide behind this somewhat, because you only play 5 players at a time, but similarly rookies rarely even see the court. Baseball is such a superior game due to their minor league system. Also with basketball, with the available money overseas I don't really see how the d-league is really going to make headway with this.
