The Rockets also have interest in former Pacers coach Frank Vogel and Spurs assistant Ettore Messina, according to a person with knowledge of the process.

He is the one I want. I like JVG and would be happy with him or even Vogel after the crap I had to endure last season. But those two guys are defense coaches that are also offensively challenged. JVG would absolutely bring discipline but I'm not sure about Vogel. Ettore doesn't coach to play with the same pace as the Rockets have the last several years but he believes in the inside out game, passing discipline, efficient offense and no turnovers.

Ettore Messina is the complete package. He has an alpha dog personality and he has been a winner everywhere he has coached and has been apart of the best system in the NBA for the last 2 seasons as far as I'm concerned. I hope Daryl give this guy a chance before Pop retires from the Spurs and they give him a chance to take the reigns.

    4× Italian League champion (1993, 1998, 2001, 2003)

I thought Monte Williams took the rest of the year off after his wife died in a car crash and left him with multiple kids. Was he on the bench?

Messina it's too much discipline for this team, IMO. The change it would be that big that players would disconnect at some point. He's a hell of a coach though.

I think discipline is exactly what the team needs, and a lot of it.

Monty Williams was still out due to the untimely death of his wife.

Messina was outcoached by Darko Rajakovic.

    Pop was outcoached by Donovan.

    Buford was outmanaged by Presti.

I like Messina as a lead associate .. We need a harder figure to be the head coach.

The team will listen and it will get discipline. My concern and happiness is how many people in FO is he going to whip. Morey and Tad **** need to get disciplined.

Euroleague championships mean jack squat for NBA players. I don't doubt Messina's Xs and Os and overall knowledge of the game but I struggle to see how he can earn the respect of the cast of characters we have in order to have them buy into his message. It was the downfall of David Blatt and I can easily see history repeating itself with Messina.

JVG is the only one that I can trust. I believe he will turn this team around tremendously. I believe in him. He will make us proud.

Two completely different personalities. Ettore Messina has been discribed as a disciplinarian with an alpha dog personality. David Blatt is more passive aggressive in the way he deals with superstars.

It won't happen because of Leslie. If I'd had to choose any coach available, it would be him. Vogel and Blatt both cannot handle disciplining players, D'antoni as a head coach is not going to win you a championship, Hornacek is laughable, Cassell & Elie would be homer picks and I'm not sure they have what it takes etc.
