Clippers rebuilding, get young stud in Capela and get something in returns for 2 expiring contracts

Rockets get 2 veterans, both expiring contracts

DJ would be borderline unplayable against the Warriors. But then again, CC was barely neutral in there as well.

We all are getting psyched and paying all the attention towards a possible superstar addition (Bosh in 2014 - LBJ/PG in 2018) all while a team sneaks in with an untradeable max offer for one of our young core pieces (Parsons/Capela), and we end up with the veteran that wants to return to Houston (Ariza/Jordan) on a way better contract.

Before I get flamed, there are numerous differences between the timelines. In 2014, we knew for certain that team was not a true contender with Parsons as the 3rd option. This year, we were a half away from being champions. We know in the very least that this team can push the very best to the limit. Parsons, while talented, had injury/ego concerns and wanted a bigger role. Capela seems like a very team oriented guy and is at least self-aware of his role on the team.

I don’t know the cap situation of letting Clint go/S&T possibilities with him but if DJ is really itching to play in Houston for the MLE, that’s a hard pass up, especially if we could get something of value for Clint. I love Clint and any scenario that involves a S&T might not even be possible but getting a guy that does pretty much everything Clint does for a fraction of what Clint would make with a max, has to be big for someone like Morey who always wants flexibility.
