I've had Windows Vista for 2 years now and had no problems, I mainly use the internet for e-mails, reading articles and downloading torrents. I couldn't find some mp3's so I searched on google and downloaded them from some shady sites. This was 3 days ago, and ever since then I've been getting these error messages 10 minutes after I open up firefox (the other browsers aren't working now, which I can't understand):

As soon as I click Retry, Abort or Ignore the browser stalls and shuts down.

I restarted my computer, ran an anti-virus scan... nothing seems to be helping. Anyone know what I should do?

Well, Firefox 3.0.8 came out not too long ago. I didn't download any p*rn like you but Firefox hosed up for me like 1-2 days ago. It doesn't give me the error you got but it just hung. I finally just uninstalled and reinstalled and so far so good.

    The p*rn was worth it...

I uninstalled, reinstalled the newer version, and I'm still getting the same error message.

    :(

Maybe trying doing a system restore. Go back about 4 days.

Have you recently installed some software, or updated the system?

The message basically tells you that there is a runtime assertion error. Some program exception that is not supposed to happen is caught.

    And whatever that means.

Most likely there is a change in your fire fox dependencies. And whatever that means.

Restoring your system or reinstall fire fox would be good ideas.
