So making Harden and Tucker our “untouchables” is smart.

And based on this stat, maybe, just maaaaaybe people are overstating how “bad” Harden has been in the playoffs?

Ariza's offensive-defensive disparity is hilarious. I miss him on this team.

Shoutout to Iman Shumpert for taking #52 place over Kobe Bryant's #53 and Dirk Nowitski's #55. Take that for Data.

Meanwhile Chuck Hayes is 255 and Thomas Robinson is 259 while Yao is in the 1100s and McGrady in the 1000s.

This just reminds us that +/- is a highly contextual stat. You can probably make a case for the top 50 guys. Outside of that, it gets really dicey trying to separate actual performance versus victims of circumstance. Even still, Draymond Green is #2 and most of the other Warriors are top 100. If you take any one of them and put them on the Brooklyn Nets, the Sacramento Kings... are they top 50? Top 100? (Harrison Barnes says hello.)

It's very useful as part of a full story but in the absence of data on role, teammate synergies, opponent quality, volume of usage, etc, it's nearly meaningless. We can see that the value of riding Lebron's coattails in the East is way more valuable for your career than being a G-league player on a Yao/McGrady team getting your lunch stolen by Mehmet Okur.

Is Anderson Floppyjao better than Steve Nash? Is Ed Davis better than Donovan Mitchell? Prigioni vs Antentokounmpo? Patty Mills vs John Stockton and Chris Webber? If you were drafting, picking, building a team, you wouldn't sort players in this way. Just saying, this needs to be taken with a gallon of salt. This is what you'd call a latent indicator of peformance, but not a predictor of who can be a performer.
