So how do we stop Lamarcus Aldridge and the Blazers

To realistically even be in the talks of contention, we'd have to have a feasible answer to the Blazers, let alone the Spurs/Thunder/Clippers etc (in a playoff atmosphere) or however your tiers are set up.

Amidst the talk of upgrading the PG and PF position or replacing Mchale and/or Morey, who do you propose is or will potentially be the best option for containing or attempting to contain Lamarcus Aldridge; or how would you scheme against him to give you the edge.

We saw what happened to Terrence Jones, but could he improve tactically, utilizing his foot speed and jump speed? Or is it all for naught...against an Aldridge high release, or the brute strength of a Zbo or Blake Griffin.

Could Dmo improve via strength training and implementing defensive techniques or added court time as he does have the requisite length or is his foul trouble a product of what he "is" rather than strength, Defensive IQ, and experience?

With Dwight you would risk foul trouble and even if used in limited schemes, could anyone in the lineup physically stick with Lopez? All 3 perimeter starters are zone busters and laying off Lopez proved to not work for us. Laying off Batum only worked sporadically as he can heat up and has against us. Is Ariza quick enough to cheat off of him and return better than a Parsons could?

Or Is there anyone attainable that gives us an edge defensively or do you just try to out-score them. A consistent bench is required to do so which is what both teams currently lack. Scouts say the PF position will be loaded with a plethora of future prospects briming with potential in the pipeline, but with Dwight, we are in win-now mode within the time-frame of his current contract.

This same problem arises with a Blake Griffin or a Zbo & Marc combo (adding Vince makes it harder to defend them.

All that being said, it is my personal opinion that Lamarcus Aldridge is not unstoppable in the sense that Dirk is. Lamarcus has an automatic high release shot but IMO lacks the polish in footwork to get consistent space in the way Dirk does. Lamarcus also lacks polished footwork in the post in creating space a la a true go-to move outside of his jumpshot and pump fake, but has great finishing capabilities regardless. In the post, I usually will see him take a hard dribble move with his right hand and into the body of his defender to create contact and in turn "space" but be able to finish with a baby hook regardless of limited space.

    I just realized...

    Dallas does have a bench...

At this point we don't need an "answer" for LMA. In that series he could have gone off like he did and it would have been fine.....One matchup problem = no problem. But when you have Bev hurt AND no competent backup that series becomes a tossup.

Same way the Blazers slowed down Harden.

Make him play defense. Bang him in the post.

Easy. Play Harden at the 5, Ariza at the 4, and go with Canaan, Bev, and Troy Daniels to round out the lineup.

Not concerned about them to be honest.

They shot ungodly in that series which is not sustainable.

We beat that team 9 out of 10 series.

Don't forget Damien Lillard raped the rocket PGs!!!!!! He averaged over 25pts in that series shooting almost 50% from the 3pt line.

My guess: McHale: Naaah.. Beard improved his defense this summer that will be enough, just give ball to Harden and play ISO once again.

Question should be - So how do we stop Terry Stotts from outcoaching and outthinking McHale?

Exactly! All those rebounds and 2nd chance points we gave up hurt us tremendously as well.

Well first off, having a decent coach that knows how to correctly switch up his defense would be nice. Secondly, the more important question is WHO WILL KEEP BROOK LOPEZ OFF THE BOARDS. Dwight can't do everything and Lopez KILLED us in the postseason. Third, being our current bench is worse than last year's weak bench Portland will win that match up too. So basically, we didn't really address the team needs this offseason. It's as if over paying Chris Bosh was priority over improving the team overall. But aslong as Mchale/Morey is coaching we ain't beating anybody in the playoffs

We lost that series due to bad coaching. Period. It took me about 5 minutes to realize we should be double teaming LMA. It took McHail 8 quarters to come to the same conclusion. We win that series if we didn't spot them 2 games.

Hire women to seduce them the night before the first game. Except the women are actually trannies. When they are getting busy and realize there is an extra piece of equipment that shouldn't be there, it will take them at least a week to get over it, and there would be no way they could focus on the games.
