    You're right - I didn't notice that... :)
But now that I do - it seems a bit like a team pace thing...
I saw that all the Heat's starters are moving only 3.0-3.2 miles per 48 minutes (Except Battier, who runs 3.5)

    Interesting.

    Wow, you're right!
The SAS players DO tend to concentrate high up in any distance and speed chart! (Well, not Duncan, but the rest of them...)

They have 5 guys in the very lead in distance, and 8 of them travel 3.5 miles or more.
Also - note that only 14 players in the league share the speed lead with an average speed of 4.6 MPH, and 5 of those are Spurs' players!

It can't be just coincidental IMHO. It HAS to be a game plan (movement and place-swaps etc.)

I wonder if it also has to do with the fact that the Spurs devide the minutes very widely among the rotation players.

(In the regular season none of them usually plays over 25 minutes on average,
if I'm not mistaken. Well - except for Parker, who really streaches it - to 30...)

So - I agree it has to do with the team's game plan.
Evidently MIA game plan has little movement, and SAS players move a lot.
Now, I guess we Rockets are spread somewhere above average (upper 1/3).
Still, apparently the beard plays more stationary than the rest of the team -
either because of his ISO offense (makes sense),
or because (as I believe) he is overworked and carrying an injury.

There have already been two threads on this. "Run = good. Big muscle = good. Tall = good. Me = basketball coach."

Don't care. Until someone does even a basic regression of player distance traveled against something like +/- or even team wins, there's no reason to believe that how much an individual player runs around has any bearing on how much he helps his team win.

who cares? It's not like he doesn't frequently get out in transition and look to score on fast breaks.

Doesn't this mean he is the most efficient player in the NBA? I mean, 24 points per and he barely covers the court.

27 points the other day on two field goals, ridiculous!

I suspect that they are all related. The less Harden moves, particularly on defense, the more other guys have to cover. Harden loves to switch on PnR situations rather than fight through the pick which both leads to mismatches but also causes his team mate to have to cover the more mobile ball handler.

Damn, James and Melo lead the league in minutes played, abuse! They are going to Earl Campbell or Arian Foster the poor guy.

Too much information, we know he will never d up and isn't fast enough to keep up. Surround him with great defenders. Harden is special and its not because of his D, we already know that.

No surprise here. Have you been able to watch the games? I love our players. But man, I do the Jackie Chan WTF face a LOT when Harden is on defence. Only b/c I KNOW he is so good when he wants to be. Reference his time coming off the bench in OKC.

Guess you can't risk foul trouble though. I guess...other players do...and if you aren't doing much on the offensive end, make an impact on the defensive end.

Shumpert was a great prospect before the knee injury. Athletic and great attitude and defense.
His athleticism and defense have taken a hit and he has always been a poor shooter.
