Do you think they should wear protective eye-wear to prevent damage to the eye-wear that should be implemented?

I agree completely. Not only does it make the game safer, it makes the players sexier.

    Sincerely,

not sure if you are familiar with hockey, but there's also high-sticking, you'd want finger to your eye or stick to your eye? Or even worse...puck to your eye?

I like the idea of players wearing safety goggles or at least swimming goggles during games. Safety comes first.

    Git'r dunn Maurice!

Who knows? Maybe they start their own NBA eyewear fashion. I would buy. Can you imagine? Goggles by Goran.

How many players have ever had career-ending eye injuries?

Or season-ending eye injuries, for that matter?

You can probably count them on one hand, of all the thousands of guys who have ever played in the NBA.

Just because there's a POTENTIAL for major injury doesn't make it LIKELY -- and definitely not likely enough to warrant that everyone wear goggles.

    No.

If players want to that's fine, but you can't force them. Imagine how geeky some of those great moments look if everyone has goggles.

High sticking rarely happens. Pro players are cognizant of its dangers. A high stick to the eye would probably just break your eye socket. A puck to the eye would most likely destroy any eye protection and still manage to break your eye socket.

A well placed finger to the eye can blind someone because it can be very precise

Another nasty eye injury to Tony Allen tonight. 3 in two nights. Not alarming but worth concern.

Please, stop making threads. My brain hurts. I mean it's not that big of a concern but I'm just saying.

They can maybe incentivize players to wear them through contract bonuses or something. Maybe a cheesy rule like you get an extra foul in a game if you wear them

I don't know if it can be totally mandatory. Players get elbowed in the face too, should they wear full masks?

I have protective eyewear, but thats cuz I can't see well and only have one good seeing eye. I can DEFINITELY "see" the benefit of that rule. If both my eyes had good eyesight, I'm not sure I'd wear them. There's just some risks in this world.

Football will cease to be full contact football cuz of concussions before eyewear becomes mandatory in the NBA.
