I don't know if he would come or not, but hey, if he can traded to nuggets, why not rox?. and my question is which team will be better if we not traded SF3 for T-mac with K-mart join?

Unless we could lure martin here witht he MLE I dont see how we could get him.

The only reason why they could offer 3 1rst for him was because the nuggets had Cap room.

This is stupid, first off, those picks were good ones. One belongs to NJ while the other 2 belong to lower echelon teames making them at least a little valuable. Yea NJ got robbed, but it was the picks or nothing so obviously you take picks. Oh yea, by the way, K-Mart is gonna get killed in the west. I have never seen a more offensively confusing player, almost smooth looking but with no definitive techiniques. And for someone so regalled out of college is Rebounding is pretty *****. He wasnt that great in the east and his situation is no easier now. And for the Rockets trade, it was absolute best case scenario. Watch games from this year, see where are mistakes comes from. Cato and Francis have all the good intentions in the world but both are obviously afflicted with a few things that put definite limits on them. Mobley has developed and proved efficient this year, so I was a little more sour on his leaving but Cato and Francis alone are not worth Marion and Joe Johnson. Even if it takes a year to fill the holes, we now will be a more efficient team while yielding the offensive ability and defense to compete with anyone any night. Will see how lazy Mcgrady is for a competitive team with a center who may change the game, he wouldnt dare slack, not after everything he has said. Thank god that we did not end up with Ray Allen and Vladmir Radmonivic.

where would we get these magical 3 first round draft picks?

The only 1st round draft picks we have are our own(which should be in the twenties anyway, nowhere near sniffing the lotto like the picks that NJ got may have the chance to), and according to the current CBA, we can't trade away consecutive picks. Or 3 first rounders, whatever. Of course the Nets would also have to take back at least around 6 mill of salary, and Kenyon may have become BYC since Nets are over the cap, which makes things muddier. And if all it took were these 3 first rounders to get Kmart, then we should have still been able to get him even with Tmac on board, no? So shouldn't the question be is last years core + Kmart > Yao + Tmac + Kmart? bleh, whatever.

But I guess the gist of what you are asking is is whether or not the team from last year + Kmart > than Yao + TMac.

And the survey says: last years team + Kmart would still suck.

Yap, you right, my question is

    (SF3+Yao+Cat+JJ+Cato+Mo.t+KMART)
    vs.
    (Yao+TMac+Howard+Lue+Mo.t+JJ)

you think Yao+Tmac will be better!!! OK, I support!!!

Just curious, but why do you feel that these two trades are mutually exclusive? If we could land KMart for 3 picks, it still meant that we had Francis to trade for T-Mac.

As others have pointed out, the trade makes no sense because we don't have the cap room to make such a trade. Not to mention that even if we had the cap room, our 3 picks would've been crappier than what the Nugs offered. Sure, the Nugs picks are all lottery protected, but they're still likely in the teens. Rockets picks are going to be in the late 20s.

How on earth do you propose we get K-Mart in the first place?

We didn't have the capspace to sign him to a big deal like Denver did, and we didn't have three first round picks to give Jersey in a S/T.

    This is a pointless thread.

This is a flawed scenario as pointed out. A team adding a significant role player shouldn't be compared to a team trading talent for talent, when these two things are not mutually exclusive. To make the comparison work, I'll pretend that T-Mac said he wouldn't play for Houston if Martin was here and we had the 3 picks.

    Roughly speaking:

    Talentwise:
Francis > Lue for X percent
KMart > Howard for X percent (defeinitely not by a lot though)

    but

    T-Mac > Mobley for X percent

Depending on the value of your X's are it's hard to have an unanimous answer on this one.

    Compatibitilty:

    T-Mac + Lue + Howard + Yao > Francis + Mobley + Martin + Yao

Lue is more of what we need at the 1. Martin is good at fast breaks but we don't run, so part of his offense is negated, on the other hand, Martin is more suited defensively with Yao. So it's a wash. T-Mac plus Yao is just fabulous.

The opportunity cost of trading for Martin:

Three first round picks are a lot to give up! Another decent player can be had and throw him into the T-Mac and Yao team!

    Final verdict:

    The current team wins!
