Teenagers are lying liars. Their mouths are moving, they lie. I did it, you did it. Of course, they do it.
Now multiply that by 20 and welcome to my life everyday. They just don't want to take ownership of anything and will lie straight to your face. Don't get into the mud with them just go ahead and issue the consequences.
That's how we roll, brother. We're the adults, they're the kids. This **** might upset us, but we wait until we're cool to discuss and punish. Just SMH at how dumb it all is. We're smart, savvy parents and we're going to find out. Guess you can't beat biological imperative for priority.
It's different these days, Kids lie about the dumbest things and then when confronted they will not stop with the lie. I have to wonder if it's not the climate we are in, just fake it to you make it. I'm a very tolerant teacher if you get your work done you can do pretty much anything as long as it's with respect for others and you correct your mistakes. But I have couple who just don't get it and always try a test of wills and then Bad Teacher comes out and it's a surprise and they get all upset, 1 week later its the same thing.
I think it's because kids are raised by their devices now. It's 'easy' for parents to just give their kids a tablet to keep them quiet. Kids know that if they skate under their parent's radar they can get away with anything. It's hard to have character and really care and pay attention to the kids constantly.
