Sources? Turner was credited all through the post season for our fantastic defense. Now all of sudden idiots are crediting MDA, the WORST defensive mind of all time. I need links

They need to let Stephen Silas hire his own assistant coaches.

Just what this franchise needed, former NBA players who keep failing in coaching.

what it all comes down to for any rockets HC is being able to manage silver's zebras. silas comes off as just too nice to even get in their crooked faces to force any semblance of equity. perhaps nate could fill that role?

Hornacek was a favorite of mine early in his career. But his coaching resume and issues with players... my God. We'll have to see what our offense looks like, but I don't see our guys meshing with him on a strictly personal level. But he does have a beautiful daughter, so there's that.

Calm down. Charles Oakley was once a Rocket too. Times change. I still can’t believe I rooted for Chris Paul. I used to hate that guy’s guts.

so he's shown to be a pretty pedestrian (at best) defensive coach until he got to the pacers. I think he learned a lot under Vogel for 3 years. when he took over as HC they dipped out of the top 10 defensively for 2 years but the last 2 years he got them right back up there. hard to consider him a defensive coordinator with only 2 years leading a top 10 defensive team, given 19 tries. does he bring decades of head coaching experience? yes. he hasn't really been successful anywhere, though. and I don't think Silas actually needs a former HC to help him. he's not all that young and inexperienced. he's been an assistant for 17 years!

I'm not opposed to Nate joining the staff but I also don't think he's the defensive genius some are making him out to be. I think he's recently lead a good defensive team and hopefully that is a sign that he's adopted some of Vogel's defensive schemes. and hopefully that travels with him if hired here.

as for hornacek, no former jazzholes on the rockets please. its already hard enough to root for a tilman team.

The secret in Indiana is that it wasn’t really Vogel or McMillan that made the Pacers good defensively. Dan Burke is the guy that has ran their defense. He is exceptionally good... and now he is an assistant with the Sixers.... joining Dave Joerger, Sam Cassell, Ime Udoka and Joseph Blair.

Rockets get McMillan, Hornacek and a half eaten bologna sandwich... also not coincidence those guys are on Morey’s team... he has loved Joerger and Burke for years.

well that was sort of my point. Nate isn't the guy people think he is. who else is available as a defensive coordinator?

I don't know which team I'm more jealous of, the Sixers or clippers. owners willing to spend. legendary executives. deep coaching staffs. lue and atkinson was the exact pairing I wanted for the rockets. clippers paid. joerger and burke were guys I was hoping might pair well with Silas. Sixers paid.

Thank you for putting in this research, Nate is not the defensive genius as a coach as he was as a player.

Not sure he is an upgrade over Turner.

Just keep current defensive switch everything system in place for pete's sake.

    Bingo.

Not too late to add Erman, Voight and/or Quinn.

After checking into this, yeah it looks like Burke was a key factor for that defense. That and Myles Turner's development as rim protector.

Well, if we don't have a defensive coordinator or find one we still need a center who can block shots, defend, rebound and space the floor.
