You do realize you should check your numbers before reporting something as fact. Obviously had you done so, you would have realized how WRONG this is.
Simple reason for all these trade Yao talks: 1. Yao fans in other clubs desperately want Yao to go to their teams. 2. People have nothing better to do than writing these threads. Some of us are actually dumb enough to read it or maybe want to bash those who bash Yao Although Yao won't be traded, there's no guaruantee that he will re-sign with the Rox after his rookie contract. He might not be too happy here since we're not making that much of progress this season.
You guys missed another population of people who would start these threads: YOF who think Yao gets frozen out by his teammates and could do better on another team.
It isn't a good sample of Houston fans, I doubt even half of the people on here are even from Texas. Most of the people I meet watching Rocket games here in Houston like both Yao and Steve, and both of them get equal criticism, unlike this board.
A few thoughts ... (1) LeBron. I think that Cavs would be in the playoffs if they had Stevie and Yao instead of LeBron and Z. Ilgauskas. Stevie and Yao would enjoy years of playoff experiences in the east playing in cleveland. Are you sure you really want to trade Yao for LeBron (a 7'6 guy for a 6'7 guard who will never be MJ). After Kareem Abdul Jabbar was traded to the Lakers the Bucks went down to the drain; After Shaq left Orlando, the Magic went down to the drain. Hakeem was traded when he was done and closer to retirement than to his bathroom from his bedroom. Scottie Pippen has been traded when it was clear that he was not the guy this team wanted. Charles Barkley wanted to be traded and clearly Philly would not have gone anywhere with him. "There have been superstar players that have been traded." That is right. But the ones who traded away the superstars are the ones who suffer. No exceptions: no one improved their team by trading away their superstars. Stevie makes 14 million, Yao makes 4 million ... enough said economically. By the way, as a Laker fan, I would trade anyone on the Lakers for Yao except Kobe. You want Shaq for Yao? You can have that guy.
So our attendance isn't great. We should trade away our most popular player? Nice marketing strategy there boss. And clutchcity isn't a good sample of fans. There are too many people from China, and too many fanatics who don't think clearly. Steve is the most popular player on the Rockets by far. Don't kid yourself.
Putting Yao's playing skills aside, Yao = $$$$$. Les would show no business sense whatsoever trading his cash cow to another team even if it was Kobe or KG or whoever that will come in his place. The Rockets owner is making megaBucks...don't kid yourselves fellas, Yao is here to stay.
