D'Antoni and Brad Stevens were/are on incredibly team friendly deals with the best ROI.

    Not even close.

May have more weight if Tilly was lowballing Scotty Brooks or Lucas.

    But lowballing D'Antoni was criminal.

Damn, if you're an elite coach you can make more money in your career than some All-Star players. Say you make 10 million a year and have a 30 year career, that's 300M.

Even the elite coaches not making 10M+ annually.

Only 2 coaches make 10M+ and neither have won much the last few years. Paid on their past past performances.

Even Kerr only making 7M and 2 other more recent championship coaches making less than 4M.

Brad stevens is only making 3.6 and Spoelstra is making 3 mil... D'Antoni wanting more than 4 and more than Kerr at 5 mil is a joke!

The new Rockets coach will probably have to work for free. Coupons for Landry's will be handed out for him.

How much is 2 meals a day for a family of 6 worth at landrys? He/she might actually be making out pretty well.

    Appetizers included in the figure.

Who said D'Antoni was demanding more than Kerr?

Both Stevens and Spo will be making more than 5 when they sign their next contract, easily.

The joke is Doc at 10M with Clips and now 7M with 76ers.

MDA earned the right to say no to the insulting 2.5M extension.

True, except that they have to eat at Landry's!

+4M/year for either Lucas or Silas???

    I dont think so.

Even JVG should not get that much.

And no way Tilly pays any coach 6M annually.

The Rockets don’t want Silas or Lucas as their head coach (all things being equal). They may have to settle for Silas but Tilman isn’t going to let 5-10 million dollars keep him from getting the coach he wants (if it is his idea).

I would love to believe you but precedence proves otherwise.

I don’t know if they work it out with JVG. What I can say is Tilman will spend money when it is something HE wants... just look at the Westbrook deal.

When I am super hungry and lack discipline, I can eat Landry’s... it’s cheaper and loaded with processed carbohydrates. The problem is I always regret it because I feel terrible for two days... I went 4-5 times a year when younger. Now I never go... I’ll just stop and devour a loaf of white bread if I want to get full and feel like crap.

If that is case he purposefully drove away both Morey and D'Antoni.

And not using MLE and giving away assets just to avoid LT was not a true financial decision based on lack of resources but a misinformed and incompetent management preference.

He has said the Rockets are completely separate from his other ventures. That is to say his spending on the Rockets is completely dependent on the team being self sustaining. More money is spent when the team makes more. I personally don’t buy it but there are a variety of reasons he says that.

There is always a cause and effect. MDA being gone had nothing to do with Tilman not being able to find an extra 5-6 million dollars. If Tilman wanted MDA, he would have signed him to an extension. MDA wasn’t Tilman’s guy and he wants to model the franchise in an image of a team that will step on your throat. Tilman doesn’t hide that fact.

Tilman isn’t a hands off owner. This is a multi generational family business like in LAL or DEN with super involvement. Everyone is ultimately replaceable other than the family.
