For those of you who didn't catch Reeko's subtext due to brevity:

"From having an ethical highly educated man as President for 8 years who happened to be a black American [well, "black", anyway, not so much the latter, in case you watch FOX News] and that just negates everything, don't it?"

I see by your join date that you may have missed some of the bbs history yourself, but I think you get it.

The point being, however, that just because we (liberals) might end up happy with election day results and even if Biden does all the things we think he should do to right the ship, doesn't mean we get to heal. Because there will be 50 million Trump voters who will firmly believe that the election was stolen from them and that the cabal of globalists will now fly their beloved country straight into the dirt. Even if security escorts Trump out of the White House, we'll still be arguing with all those people who believe in what Trump represented. I hope there is some respite and relief after Election Day, but then we have to get to Inauguration Day and then worry about midterm elections and who knows what happens before the next presidential election.

all I’m saying is that we can at least make the attempt to heal the country, and it’s mainly through legislation if the Democrats are able to get a majority in the House and Senate

Looks like Biden's campaign is exhausted too, they just threw in the towel, per 4chan

It will be refreshing to not have virtually every news broadcast begun with Trump's stupid tweet or ignorant proclamation of the day. Of course as CBS CEO Moonvives said: Trump was great for network profits.

From the vibe in this thread, you would think trump doesn't have a chance.

Even if he wins again though most people will tune politics out I believe. I think Democratic voters will pretty much just for their own sanity have to move on and accept that the 45% of Americans that live in the right states for the electoral college believe America is better suited to be a corrupt autocracy. I think that'll be sad, and people will still be upset, but it won't be the riots in the streets for weeks that you might think. People will be pissed, but then just be sad that folks like yourself just prefer lying strongmen autocratic thugs to run the country like their own personal reality show that serves one purpose... which is to serve the cleric.

I'll go ahead, and say it now as if Trump is going to win. You seem like a good dude, and we'd probably get along well, but It's disappointing that folks like yourself are for whatever reason just really into giving up on Democracy in favor of a form of government that is more like Russia or Poland. But it's your choice to vote however you want, and millions of voters in the right swing states agree with you. I don't understand it, and will still be good friends with many like yourself on November 4th, but just know that just because Democratic leaning folks sort of move on out of necessity for their own sanity if Trump wins, it doesn't mean that we care any less.

But yes.... if Trump wins, I expect things to get just as quiet, and I think the news will tank if they cover the Trump reality TV show daily outrage in the same way.

What are you arguing with like 2-3 posters on this forum? Must be difficult.

Trump is the best thing that has happened to the Democratic party. I have never seen a voting party as motivated as it has been.

There will be rightful retribution by the left. Trump kicked the door open and it isn’t going to be closed. Federal appellate judgeships will be flying off the presses. The Democrats are not going to take it easy...

Not how I’m reading it. For the millionth time, he has a good chance, a solid chance at the electoral college, or at using Barr and SCOTUS to hold power if it’s close. We KEEP saying these things.

but a lot of us are hoping for a more decent, uniting, data-driven, non-criminal-encrusted outcome.

He has a good chance. Short of a blow out by Biden, this will land with the SCOTUS where he has a strong majority and he still has the Toad (Barr) pulling the strings of the Justice Department.

Personally I think Trump carries Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania and Michigan will be very close.

Good luck with that. Regardless of the outcome many people will believe it is rigged.... there are idiots that believed the birther nonsense and still believe in pizza gate.

The left isn’t nearly as bad about believing garbage, but they are more likely to riot and destroy stuff.

With under a week to go for anyone who hasn't voted should do it in person. It's way too close to election day to trust the mail and with the lawsuits already flying regarding votes received after election day can't trust it.

I hope you're right but I don't think things will be that calm no matter which sides wins.

I disagree - it's too late to vote by mail given mail may take up to 10 days to be delivered.

Vote in person. It's riskier but ask yourself this - does America remaining a democracy mean something to you? Hundreds of thousands of people have given their lives to make this country it is what it is today, if not millions.

It's our time to do this one simple act to ensure that democracy continues. And if it means taking a risk and getting covid, then so be it. Vote in person now.

I mean I think there will be serious organizing and resistance movements but that'll be at a controlled level. I think you'll see marches and an overwhelming amount of young people getting involved. That part is for sure going to happen.

But again it'll be more like Belarus or Russia or Poland's movements moving forward if Trump wins with the amount of consolidated power he has, and will gain more of. I don't think it'll be the riots in the street burning down buildings that most Trumpers think it'll be. Trump will be more than willing to call in the national guard and if he wins he'll have very little resistance on the inside of government to take a harsher police state presence even with just the fear of rioting.

But most Americans are just tired of it, and I think most will need a break either way even if resistance movements are going to be more prevalent than ever as they are in Russia, Belarus, etc. And most will realize we really don't live in a Democracy anymore than Russia or Poland or Belarus do, and there will be a Emperor Has No Clothes moment where the world and American believers in Democracy have a come to Jesus moment about what we really are.

I remember early on a Trump biographer saying that "Trump will always exhaust you on any battle". That's really true about the man and you have to give him credit on his unrelenting ability to just never stop being Trump, and never stop in any given moment with the need to gain more and more autocratic power to exalt himself. If he wins, Democracy as we know it is done.

:D It is rather the premise of this forum. Should I chime in just to say how much I agree with everyone else? Where's the fun in that?

Anyway, in this thread, I wasn't objecting to what anyone said, just adding a warning. I don't know, maybe the isolation from the pandemic has made me weird and I don't know how to tell people to watch out without it looking like a fight anymore.
