On a side note, without John Buck to remind me, I suddenly find myself wondering, how old is Juan Soto? Oh wait, evidently the Washington Nationals got last place in their division, so I guess I'll just have to go on with my life without knowing.
Kershaw's career really has been remarkable for good and bad reasons. On the one hand he is one of the most dominant regular season pitchers of all time by any metric, any era. He's been incredible. However, while his postseason numbers as a whole aren't horrific, his ERA is nearly 2 points higher in the postseason. And at this point it's not a sample size issue at all. He's basically pitched an entire regular season in the playoffs now. His WHIP isn't much higher in the postseason, but I think it comes down to the fact that he plays in the NL, and teams tend to be more aggressive in the playoffs. He gives up playoff home runs at a pretty high clip, and when you make mistakes in the second season, players tend to lock in to it. It's in his head now.
Is that Colin McCugh's wife?? That's soooooo legit. I miss 2015 McCugh when he would give up 4 runs in the first then settle and we would score 15 runs every time and get him the win.
The way Machete has handled our young pitchers this year is truly amazing. He’s provided some nice pop at times as well. He’s been vital to us and the drop off between Maldonado and our other catching options are like night and day. I’m so impressed with the way this team has fought and competed in these playoffs. It’s a thing of beauty. No matter what happens tonight or tomorrow I’m satisfied with the grit these guys have shown. The pressure is on the rays now. We have the advantage in confidence, hitting, and most of all, experience. In games one and two we had a lot of traffic on the bases against snell and Morton with some really good swings against both of them. The key will be getting an early lead tonight. One game at a time. LFG
That team went from top to bottom of the league real quick. Makes you wonder how they cheated last year.
And as a top executive at Frito-Lay, I thank him! (you should see our sales rates at stores near head shops in CA and CO) Also, two to go! We should have won the first two, so we know it can be done.
Never? There were a couple of years when the Rays thought Crane was being cheap. Crane has not had a problem spending money once the Astros started making him a lot of money.
Yeah, but he more or less laid out this expectation when he bought the team. I'm pretty sure there is a quote where he reassured fans that once they felt like they had acquired the core pieces from the draft and the minors they would spend to round out the team. It wouldn't have made sense to sign loaded contracts back in 2013, 14... Would've been Carlos Lee all over again.
Would the Ray's park be rocking today? I recall hating to play them in Tampa Bay far back as 2017 because the visual of their park with no fans was horrifying to me. Now all parks are like that.
