this organization without Morey and Harden is DONE

Can I interest anyone in being the Charlotte Hornets of the WC, or the next T-Wolves?

    * DM decision, not Tilman's
    * Promote from within is fine with me
    * Promote from within doesn't mean any wholesale changes. Maybe, but equally maybe not
    * DM was a solid GM. Top 5-10. Not "the best" as a lot here thought
    * Handcuffed by ownership as he was, he's leaving the job in a pretty bad situation. Minimal draft picks. No cap room. Bad personnel fit.
    * Certainly to an extent, that's on him
    * This team wasn't winning a ring anytime soon, absent meaningful changes.
    * Maybe DM would have been best to control those changes....
    * BUT he didn't want to do it anymore
    * If DM does go to another organization, that's a positive to me... i don't think he'd "dominate" any trades with the Rockets... rather another useful trading partner
    * But it doesn't sound like he wants another GM role in the short term anyway

Absent a ring... DM's feel for the job is kind of how i feel about the Rockets. Perhaps time for a change ... somehow ... so at least this will be interesting!

Completely devastated. We get rid of Bill O'Brien, not to worry Houston! Tilman Fertitta ensures we'll still have at least one poorly run organization that's the laughing stock of the sports world over the next decade! I look forward to being the Minnesota Timberwolves in 3-4 years.

It was inevitable. I have mixed emotions about this but I wish Morey the best.

Tilman: Head Coach search completely up to GM
    Morey: I want JVG
    Tilman: No. Too much monies.
    Morey: Here's my resignation

Good. Hallelujah! Fresh start! (kinda) (Tilman should have done a search for a new GM. Outside voice, outside perspective.)

If Tilman was and is already running the show (as so many accuse him of doing), who the hell cares who the GM is?

Goodbye to fat ass Morey, his terrible neckbeard, Moreyball, small ball, nerd ball...

Goodbye to all the Morey fans. Goodbye to all the "I'm out-ers, I'm done-rs". Real Rockets fans were here before Morey, they'll be here after Morey. @tinman

Guy wants to assemble the roster, hire the coach, hire the coach's coaches, tell the coach how to play, ... well then get your ass down there already and coach the team and when you hang yourself like Bill O'Brien, fire your ass!

We will miss you drafting the likes of Terrence Jones & Royce White (when you actually have a pick) and paying Ryan Anderson $80 million.
We will miss you telling Carmelo he is the key to a championship formula.
We will miss you telling Chris Bosh he'll only win 45 games with LeBron & DWade but can win 60 with broken Yao.

Good luck out of basketball like your buddy "basketball genius" Sam Hinkie. May we never hear from either of you again. :D

Can't say this is surprising. If you dedicated 10 years of your career to building a championship team and you finally get close only for a new owner to step in and not want to spend money. Then follow that up by forcing to spend draft capital to save luxury tax each year instead of improving the team and then finally force a trade for Westbrook. I guess this is what is has come too. Part of me always thought Morey who is one of the smartest most calculated people was trying to get fired last year by tweeting about Hong Kong.

Really hope Harden demands a trade.

This is the right move. I fully expect the Rockets to improve significantly. Morey going away is addition by subtraction for the Rockets franchise. His philosophy does not translate into playoff success. His inability to evaluate players and the franchise beyond the numbers showed his acute blind spots. His number crunching analysis was incredible but he didn't know how to balance it properly with proper scouting/eye tests. Its about 4 years too late but hey better late than never right?

Next is to find an actual No. 1 superstar to lead the Rockets franchise and not have to depend on an unreliable Harden to be your cornerstone. Harden would be a terrific No. 2, Rockets must look to add Giannis someway somehow
