    I don’t think a **** without it’s head is very accountable.

Did anyone watch any of his Team USA games? Might give clues about his current style.

I can’t believe you advocate this philosophy?!?!

    1. If it is his current philosophy why don’t you advocate it?

    2. Do you accept the possibility that his philosophy could have evolved based on the state of the league and the players he would have?

That’s a fair point. At this time I’ll just have to punt and say I don’t exactly know what the product on the court will look like. But, I believe in JVG and think he is smart enough to adapt to the modern NBA. Also, I generally agree with most of his opinions about basketball on broadcasts, and I think that matters.

If I recall.... he was not big on offensive rebounding.
    Preferring getting back on defense.

Sounds terrifyingly familiar and equally as dull.

JVG does not really have an offensive philosophy even after all these years.

Other than being in love with layups.

    Pass.

They were 15-2, with a bunch of D-league players, and knocked off Argentina for the gold in the FIBA Americup tourney. Granted, it wasn’t top notch competition, but he also didn’t have top notch players or a consistent roster.

Losing to Argentina is no shame.

But losing to Mexico and struggling to beat Uruguay was very bad.

Even with D League talent, you do not lose to Mexico and have to rally to beat Uruguay.

Not if you are Team USA you don't.

And to be honest, I think JVG coaches teams with less talent better. Guys with no egos and are willing to give 100% to coaches vision. He is at his best with underdogs who love to play defense.

We tried going at Ludicrous speed with the 3>2 strategy and is got us close a few times, but rejoicing in being close is for losers!

I really don’t care if we slow down our offensive pace (not at snail speed) as long as it incorporates more ball movement! We can’t have Harden as our only viable option in the playoffs! Every frickin year they double/triple team him in the playoffs and force him to either have to make difficult shots or pass it to someone who doesn’t deliver because we’re not getting quality ball movement!

I’m not sure if JVG is the right answer, but we know that we’re coming up short every year doing the same thing every year!! At this point I’m willing to try something different, if it’s less scoring and more defense...I’m fine with that!!

(P.S.) I haven’t got a clue as to what offensive strategy JVG will try to run this time around...neither does anybody else in this thread.

    Go Rockets!!!

I think JVG would love small ball offense. A lot of times, they don't even try to get offensive rebounds. Everybody just runs back after the shot goes up.

It is useless to ask this question. We are an iso team, that won’t change. JVG would provide better defensive strategy AND he actually has the ability to make adjustments in the middle of the game!

He sucks. Remember those painful yao mcgrady years? He better let go of that slow halfcourt game and speed the game up. He never had dynamic offenses and is not the right fit for this job.

I don’t understand what there is to be alarmed at in this clip?

he was advocating ball movement for quality shots, and saying it would look different based on a team’s personnel. (A layup being the highest quality shot.)

    sounds very sensible to me.

    JVGs offensive strategy

    1. Give it to KD in the mid post
    2. Cash out

How much would it cost for Jeff Van Gundy AND Mark Jackson?
