If I was on a budget and could work from home, 2 places I'd consider are Chiang Mai and Siem Reap. Warm weather, cheap and good food, and lots of amazing historical sites which you can take months to slowly explore and get lost in. Chiang Mai is also at the end of the Himalayan stretch, so there's lots of nice hiking trails too.

Mexico. Lived there before, love it. Either Mexico City, San Miguel or one of the beach cities.

Vancouver, Canada. Great place. A bit pricey for real estate, but one of my favorite places to visit.

Where you want to live and where you can find a decent job narrow the field for me (I work in digital marketing).

    - Helsinki, Berlin, and Singapore

    If no Brexit - London
If no political unrest - HK
If I could speak the local language - Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo

U know that the locals refer to it as Hongcouver, as many HKers has immigrated there, building a vibrant suburb, Richmond, that has the best Cantonese food in N America.

I own a Condo in Richmond.

every time I go to Hongcouver, I’d go to this curio shop and buy a can of “fresh BC air” and bring it back to smoggy LA

I heard Venezuela is cheap right now.

But for me, Colombia. Although i would probably go broke from having 2000 baby mamas.

    • hasting street and related homelessness , drugs
    • lack of adequate infrastructures when it comes to highways (not enough, narrow, zigzag commutes)
    • I like my car windshields to be in ONE piece
    • Grey winter , nothing close to Havana

I'd rather not get into politics in this thread. Personally, I always like to be informed and prepared.

    Yup.
In fact when I went there the first time I seriously considered moving permanently.

Beautiful old cities, wonderful cuisine, dirt cheap, ..a country that marries the known mediterannean with a touch of exotic.
The only negative is that men are ugly and short.

Once the ban on Americans is lifted, I plan on taking a friend from Mexico City to Portugal. Plan was to rekindle some things with her, but now that you mentioned that guys are short and ugly there, I might have to leave her in Mex. City and take my chances over there. Ha

I'm getting too old to learn new tricks, but I've lived in Canada, and the climate didn't bother me as much as that of my hometown, Houston. I could easily spend the rest of my days in or near the most overrated of all cities, Vancouver. Pretty sure I'd eat at Linh Cafe three times a week, go to Tofino or Victoria or Gibsons or Seattle or one of the Gulf/San Juan islands at least once a month. I'd fish for salmon and catch too many dungeness crabs to eat, and I'd generally live happily ever after.
