Are we talking about the end of the small-ball era?

How will he guard CP3's pull-up jumpers?

Considering our limited finance, Baynes is an acceptable target for our MLE. I'd like someone more athletic but beggers cant be choosers.

Maybe not play switch everything all game vs. CP3 team?

Like the Rockets finally did by keeping EGo on CP3 in Game 7.

Baynes is an excellent lane defender. Big body who takes a lot of space in the middle.

With RoCo as a weak side shot blocker, it would provide great rim defence.

    Huge fan of Baynes.

In a depressed market where the teams that have cap space are rebuilding I don't know if anyone is going to offer Baynes more than the NTMLE but y'know I'll go ahead and bookmark this comment and give you credit if he signs a deal longer than 3 years and/or for more than the NTMLE.

Why do you think signing Baynes would mean the end of small ball? IIRC the Rockets still have all 5 of their starters under contract and can deploy that lineup at any given time. The addition of Baynes give them the flexibility to go big with a guy that can stretch the defense with this 3 point shot but can also defend big men as needed. I'm a huge Tucker fan and I do not want to see the guy play 35-38 minutes a night guarding 5s as he's at his best at the 4 with a great defensive wing at the 3 (Ariza, RoCo).

Overall, I'm not worried about beating CP3's pull-up jumpers. I'm more worried about the layup line that the Lakers had against us last series because we didn't have a big physical presence available.

Not sure you realize the size of Horford's contract.

EGo and House not going to cut it. Still about $10M short.

I would let Tucker go too if I had too. This team needs size badly enough so they'll have to take some risks, even if they have to take on a bad contract like Horford. Personally I hope they add guys like Holmes and Baynes or Olynyk and Giles etc... whatever it takes to add size, rim protection.

Thank you, but maybe we should make a poll to see what CF members want. I'd be interested to see which guys here want BBC.

Might be more appropriate for the Hangout...

I like Baynes. We need another flexible big to go with him like Woods

I would take those other options over a Horford trade.

    Baynes in 2019/2020

    1. For the regular season, Baynes shot 36.8% from the 3 point line in the space the NBA consider to be "above the break" meaning these aren't your corner 3s. Why is this important? A big that can make corner 3s is good but a big that can hit from deeper stretches the other team's defense out. His 36.8% is only behind KAT and is ahead of Porzingis, Love, and Al Horford.

    2. According to stats.nba.com, Baynes averaged 3 screen assists per game, better than Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis. Basically a screen assist is when the screener sets a pick that translates into an open/made shot.

    3. He averaged 4.8 box outs per game, better than Embiid, Horford, Jokic, Tristan Thompson and Clint Capela

    Much better option than Horford.

Can we get a Baynes vs. KLove comp? I don't believe a small ball roster can ever be considered a contender in a league with a few elite bigs. I always thought KLove (contract aside) was/is the ideal fit for Harden in any system. Still trying to find our Bosh. Bayne is interesting - need to see more highlights or something to see if his shot was that consistent to be relied upon. Other than that, if it's a cheaper KLove, I'm down.

He's doing all of this while only playing just 22.2 minutes a night! Talk about giving maximum effort.
