flavorful jook (rice porridge w pork, preserved eggs, shrimp, squid, fish) w crispy egg tofu as the accompaniment

    how do you make it.

    here how i make mine.
    on the nite before,

make the egg tofu, which is the result of steaming (egg + soy milk)

    for the jook
just before bed time, set crock pot to low to cook ~ 8 hours

    left-over rice, julienned BB pork or left over pork chop, preserved egg, ginger, soy, Salt, white pepper, oil, green onion plus water;
    next morning

add in the seafood, set crock pot to high, cook for 45 min
cube the egg tofu, coat them w miso-based solution, then cover w panko (Japanese bread crumb)
then use air fryer to cook them for 12 min

fwiw, i go to noodle/dumpling/jook shops to get my jook, not dim sum restaurants

the best of these specialty/niche restaurants are in HK
the best in N American are in the suburbs of Vancouver, BC and Toronto, Ont; i'd consider those in LA and SF to be tier-2

Yep, there's a place here that does awesome carne guisada and eggs, skillet potatoes and refried black beans. It's what I got me thinking and inspired the poll.

Love a good omelette and hashbrowns though.

Since WFH I'll typically make shakshuka once a week for lunch. Love it, especially if I can manage to pay enough attention to not overcook the eggs.

I like one or two foreign breakfast items (juevos con chorizo comes to mind), but I can't say that I'm well-versed in an abundance of foreign breakfast cuisine.

What I CAN say, is that a BIG breakfast on a weekend is one of my favorite things in this world. I'm talking pancakes, bacon, sausage links, sausage patties, hash browns, fruit, waffles, biscuits & gravy, skillet potatoes, oatmeal, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, toast...

I don't really believe in a physical manifestation of heaven, but if one did exist, mine would be a giant never-ending breakfast buffet, on a never-ending Saturday morning with everyone I love sitting around in their pajamas eating ang laughing.

IMHO Mexican beats out any other food no matter what time a day it is.

I imagine something like that would have a physical manifestation of a breakfast poll. Bunch of people swarming it and start ripping off pieces of bacon, eggs, and ham from it.

Since it's heaven, more sanitary and uhhh dignified....

The "hell" version is the food all tasting bad, the family is all arguing, and they're all blaming the opposing political party for their problems.

Assuming not hungover (something brothy), my favorites along the lines of smoked salmon or ribeye with scrambled eggs. Lately I've been obsessed with this gadget, after last week being gifted these tongs with a hinged medallion at the end. Similar to the electric sandwich makers of the 90's, except plain round instead of the sea shell/scalloped triangles. Basically sealed round grilled cheese pocket. If you use tortillas or pie crust you can put any combination of wet ingredients as you want, egg/meat/beans/cheese, and makes an awesome little pocket. tomato and cheese not for breakfast as per op's criteria, but spoilered below brisket & egg tortilla and spinach quiche pockets:

Whole egg you can make yolk as runny or solid as you want depending on burner temp. Only problem is sometimes end up with too-burnt ridges, not pretty but knocks off; wastes the corners/crust if you don't shove them inside, and the diablo burns its namesake right on there like it or not.

Can't really enjoy a full meal in the morning anymore so Mexican is out would ruin my day.

Can't really do pancakes anymore which is my favorite, nothing like a great pancake or waffle.

more of a bagel and fruit guy in the morning these days.

    What is the best Bagel?

    I am a onion guy.

^HEB in-house bakery makes a pretty good bagel. Must get at least one plain, but they have other varieties.

Best Migas in Houston are at an unexpected place — Brasil Cafe, which started as just a coffee house (1st one in Montrose — or Heights for that matter). I’m eating them now for my 5th time during current visit. Dan’s first wife is Brazilian and made sure to shape the menu around classic Latino dishes. They have perfect Tamales too, which isn’t that hard to do, but easy to not do.

Best Migas I’ve had since Las Manitas closed in Austin.

Hot Bagel Shop on Shepherd was always the best bagel in Houston, looks like they've remodeled and expanded the menu so I can't vouch for them anymore. I'm an everything guy, but only if the garlic isn't burned. They had a sundried tomato bagel that was awesome with lox.

They moved to other end of same strip. Same vibe, though.

No wrong answer here as long as properly prepared.
American: Eggs Benedict and a Bloody Mary.
    Mexican: Chilaquiles and a Margarita.
