But the Warriors did implement a small ball lineup. They just didn't use it for more than a quarter per game. I really think it was because the play style is physically draining especially over the course of an 82 game season and it has other Cons certain lineups in the playoffs can better mitigate against than in the regular season. Part of the appeal of making it a death ball lineup for only a quarter is it's not as easy to scout against with less video footage and also it's sparing use to keeps players fresh.

I think small ball is a winning formula in small doses in a game that can lead you to a championship. The problem is when it's the only play style you have and expecting it to not get exposed or slowed down on some level in the playoffs.

In a lot of ways the Capela for RoCo trade feels like trading for the last piece to a championship puzzle in exchange for another necessary piece to complete the championship puzzle. Not that it was feasible to keep both but I imagine this team would feel a lot more comfortable with Capela on the block against AD, Tucker at PF, RoCo at SF, Harden at SG and WB at PG instead of what we have, especially without House available. Just having the option of a closer to traditional center could have opened up different lineups that may be more effective against the Lakers size on both offense and defense.

The Warriors championship teams had nothing in common with this rockets team. I believe warriors had 7 ft centers when they won.

Unless you want to count Durant as a traditional center, it was closer to a small ball lineup than a traditional NBA lineup.

Or maybe if you’re going to play small ball and commit to shooting a billion threes a game you actually should play your best shooter behind the arc? Just a thought but what do I know...

Stop with the Warriors comparison. You're not the Warriors.

we dont have the league on our side and we arent dirty enough

warriors had the league not calling their screen and draymond and bogut to hurt people .

3>2 , the math is not wrong .. MDA and the rockets arent dumb .. we value 2's also .

Anything we do is a calculated risk . When you arent in the drivers seat you have to gamble

Durant is almost 7 feet with shot blocking ability, Draymond Green is a legitimate PF. Rockets small ball doesn't have any PF and center. Tucker and RoCo are small forwards not PFs.

Pre-KD it was 6'8 Harrison Barnes in their death ball lineup. The only difference between Green and Tucker is that Green can work as a distributor like a PG, whereas Tucker is there for corner 3s and hustle plays.

    Casuals coming through.

The strategy is sound. The personnel and execution is not.

    1. Dan House distraction.
    2. Russty Westbrook. Clearly not the same guy before his injury/illness.
    3. Mike D'Antoni's tiny rotations.

    Game 1 the Rockets dominated.
Games 2 and 3 were super close. Both could have easily gone either way.
    Game 4 the Lakers dominated.
Game 5: (Do we get Dan back?)

Killer "small ball" lineups had lots of length still. Miami using Bosh at C with Bron at PF. Warriors using Draymond and Durant. We just don't have the proper roster. This isn't small ball. It's micro ball. It's midget ball. None of those teams purposely built their teams to be stuck in one style. Like the Lakers, they could go big or go "small" with AD at C and bron or kuz or Morris at pf etc.

If you guys are going to credit GSW for their 4 minutes of terrible 7-footer play for their championships, by all means. :D

Like ive said before, systems dont win, players do.

The celtics and the heat are not big and its looking like one of them will be in the finals.
