If it weren't for Horry's knees we would have made it too.

I remember how the Rockets were boo'd for picking Horry over Hal Miner. They were calling Miner the next Jordan. Boy were they wrong haha.

This was one of my favorite cards I collected as a kid. It's not worth much to most, but I thought it was cool to honor Vernon for this accomplishment. Scoring 50 points in a game always felt special.

By the way, have we had a Vernon Maxwell bobblehead night? I googled and didnt see anything. We need one if it hasn't happened. A game against the Jazz would be a great night for it.

My brother & I were in the stands when they announced the pick. We looked at each other & said "Who?"

Same here and the next year many did the same thing when they picked Cassell.

I was at the Summit for that draft party. When they called Horry's name, my reaction was, "What??!! Who??!!" And yeah, there were tons of boos. We were all wrong.

By the way, I miss those old draft parties. Those were a lot of fun.

Yes I remember that wolves game too. I remember thurl bailey made a shot that bounced on the top of the backboard real high and went in to send it to overtime or the win in overtime. So once again it was thurl bailey and sidney lowe then assistant coach for the wolves changing houston sports history as we know it.

You can't just think of two ends. The genius of Rudy T's system was that offense blended into defense. With three perimeter players on an offensive floor warped by Dream, at least two were always in good position to get back on D quickly. Add in Dream always beating his man downcourt, and the defense was usually in good position to start a possession. What we see today with 4 or 5 perimeter players is an evolution that began in earnest with Rudy and Dream.

I am so glad that Max picked himself up off of the ground and got hold of his life. Always loved him as a player, was sad when it all came crashing down for him, but this redemption story arc is amazing. Love me some Mad Max!!!

I remember Rudy talking about spacing. Back then, that was a new term and I didn't know what that meant,

No two guard filled the lane on a break better than maxwell.

I'm sure the hard work pushed Elie, Cassell, and shiet Kenny smith, thorpe.
