Credit where credit is due. Thank you for swinging this deal and bringing in the turbo-paced, game-changing, and at times dominating-through-sheer-will Russell Westbrook. Many people looked at the numbers, scoffed, and said it was a bad trade and bad fit. But chemistry matters. What's in your chest matters. Pat Fertitta ignored the noise and heard the heartbeat. Tilman does interfere. That's why people here hate him so much, besides his big mouth. If he just quietly let Morey do his job, he'd be a beloved owner.

 

Who's to say that Paul, Capela, and replacing Ariza/Luc would have been a better formula for success? That team won 65 games remember and had a poor year last year as obviously CP3 was recovering from multiple hamstring injuries.

I think it's not so much that WB was a great move as much as you have to give credit to Morey & MDA for finding a way to make the best of a questionable trade. At the time the trade didn't work. What happened is that Morey found a way to make it work by trading away Capela for Covington and going all-in on small ball. Tilman shouldn't get credit for his staff for saving his ass.

Westbrook was terrible to begin the season. It was our coach who encouraged him to change his game and more importantly our GM who pulled off a ballsy move to play a revolutionary style to accommodate him.

Can you imagine if we had been stuck with Chris Paul and 2 first round picks to start this season? Ugh. That's the situation that the Thunder found themselves in, and they're struggling (...with the best win % they've had since 2016).

(I realize Westbrook is playing fantastic basketball. Doesn't mean we have to run back to this thread and try to justify it. Just enjoy it.)

This season isn't a success yet. We are on pace to essentially match last seasons wins, we are a 3 game losing streak away from falling behind the CP3 led OKC team.

Let's see if we get past the 2nd round first, lets see where we end up in the standings, lets see where this team is and what picks we are giving up until 2026.

I think if we would have re-signed Ariza, kept CP3, and used our plethora of 1st for actual improvements instead of tax evasion coins, we'd be a much better team today.

Tilman as an owner for 3 years has had this team as a top 5 team and a real contender.

I really don’t understand the hate this guy gets on here.

we have two MVPs... that’s boss move.

we have really good role players and the signing of Gordon was we huge. He’s a trade piece in the offseason which is Will allow us to resign rivers and get another guy who can really help the team.

I like Gordon but rivers back and another solid piece is a huge upgrade for this team.

Gordon is better than rivers but he’s hurt a lot and rivers and another solid forward is better than him.

We have a great team and the owner is a big part of it he rights the checks.

We could do way worse than Tilman hes solid.

I’ll take Tilman over 75% of the owners in this league.

NO! It was freakin Morey and MDA. They figured it out. They deserve credit. They figure out how to make things work. The person who "allows" them to do it isn't the one who gets credit.

The only think this owner can control is how much money to spend and he hasn’t spent into the tax. Something every single champ team has done.

If this team wins a chip it will be in spite of him. He has done literally done nothing to deserve praise
