Trump wants Bernie to win. He can and will beat Bernie in an election. That's why he's pumping Bernie up.

The Democrats know this. That's why they don't want Bernie to win the nomination. This is making the whole election and nomination process a huge confligration of lose.

Bernie is going to drive moderate Democrats towards Trump. That will result in a loss. Everyone knows it except for Bernie Bros.

What this country needs is a moderate. What the Democrats need is for Klobuchar to drop out now. They need Pete or Biden to drop out as well, preferably Biden. Then, they need the rest of the party to galvanize behind and support whichever moderate is left, even if it's Bloomberg. If Bloomberg doesn't do well on Super Tuesday, he needs to drop out as well, and throw his money behind one moderate.

Please, for the love of God, don't let Trump win again. That's what's going to happen.

Self destruction at its worst, is what is going to happen in the next one to three months. Just watch.

I understand the angst of moderates since I am one and I am still not going to support Sanders in the Primary. I don't think that Democrats are handing the election to Trump. I've talked a lot about the map and I think that having a moderate will give Democrats a better chance of defeating Trump there still is a very real path to victory for Sanders. Sanders very likely will be able to get more blue voters in blue areas that undervoted in 2016. The difference in the Milwaukee area of blue voters between 2012 and 2016 would've made WI blue.

Nearly everyone thought that Clinton would beat Trump and Trump was the worst candidate the GOP could run. We saw what happened.

I think what the country wants and what the country needs aren't the same thing, and I would say wants would be the more appropriate verb here.

You may be correct there. There's some debate in that.

All spending aside, needs is probably the correct term. But when it comes to budget and spending, need and want become debatable.

I agree with you on the blue areas becoming more blue. But to an extent.

To what extent do they become blue and it has a greater effect than voters towing the line going red rather than blue as in last elections?

I won't vote for Trump. But I worry about others. I would hope most won't just out of a moral compass, but we'll see. If there were a different Republican candidate in office, I'd most likely to vote for them over Sanders. Will that stop other people?

Bernie is so divisive, not by morality, but policy, that I don't see him galvanizing anyone. He doesn't have a great track record of getting people to get things done at Congress. He's got no regard for budget. And the thing that makes him the most attractive to some people (the "D" next to his name), doesn't necessarily need to be there. Half the time it's an "I".

I just think that putting Bernie up is a surefire loss. I think people that can't see that are blind. I hope I'll eat crow on that at some point.

Well, the DNC had 4 years to prepare for a rematch with Trump and the best it could do was push Biden as the frontrunner.

Now, those same fools want to offer Bloomberg as salvation. Should Sanders forfeit his chance because the DNC is an incompetent organization?

Don't blame a man for jumping on an opportunity when others failed. Trump did the same thing to the RNC after years of McCain, Romney, Jeb! failures that the Republican base did not want.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Oh, I'm not hating the player (okay, only a little bit). I agree with you 100%. They've had years, considering Hilary was terrible, too. And they've come up with nothing.

I want a moderate Dem as president...but the people seem to want Sanders and I think Sanders can beat Trump.

There's going to be a far amount of people who voted
    Bush Jr- Obama-Trump-Sanders

Sanders can beat Trump at his own reality show style game. A moderate who tries to do things old school is going to get owned and dunked on.

If Sanders keeps the focus economic and doesn't talk about the three Gs (guns God gays) or abortion then he may be able to beat Trump. Although I think Trump wins re-election regardless. I'm more concerned that if Trump loses he won't leave the office and his supporters will back him (this is why Democrats should own guns too).

The power is in the people. Party and establishment don’t have the power they used to, even though they may act that way.

I think people really underestimate how persuasive Bernie is. Like he didn't just get here by accident. That Nevada win was pretty shocking wasn't it? It was dominance, I had no idea he had that kind of hispanic support and if that holds he's going to surprise a lot of people.

Some talking head yesterday said Bernie is the only candidate that has a movement behind him and thats what you are seeing right now.

The only way Bernie loses this is if others drop out and they need to do so before Super Tuesday.

It is possible for any candidate to beat any other candidate. We simply don't know the future. We don't know how the two campaigns will be run, what information will come out, what news will happen. We don't know what new voters will be motivated to vote that normally don't and what traditional voters would be likely to stay at home. We don't know which states would have more or less turnout.

We can talk about likelihood but to say anything is certain is premature.

I will say that a Sanders candidacy has definite risks involved. There are also some positives that are harder to track.

Right now few people are paying close attention. They hear coverage and it's background noise. There are too many candidates. Once the nominee is set, people will pay closer attention.

Bernie will come into it with a lot of people having preconceived notions of him. That is good in a way because it is a low bar for him to surpass. If he can persuade enough people that maybe Bernie's ideas aren't as crazy as they believed before it can help. He has to be able to also bring in nontraditional voters and keep enthusiasm high.

The risk is that people have already made up their minds about him and won't pay attention enough to plead his case even if he persuasive. He will have to have a way to negate the negative branding Trump will do. Because he calls himself a Democratic Socialist the negative branding will be harder to dispell.

On Bernie's side is the fact that he has surpassed people's expectations thus far. I'm impressed by that and somewhat hopeful because of it. I still will not support him in the primary, but I'll definitely support him in the general election.

The biggest fear I have about Bernie is that Trump and the GOP messaging machine (which is far superior to anything the Dems have) will convince swing state voters that Bernie is going to take away their guns or ban praying or some nonsense.

The average voter is far, far stupider and gullible than we realize. My 83 year old grandmother is still convinced that if a Democrat wins the white house, they're going to ban praying. My mother- who's in her 50s - still insists that the 9/11 hijackers crossed the Mexican border illegally and that Trump's wall would have stopped 9/11. People believe a lot of dumb ****- especially when its repeated ad nausem.

Yep, that's the risk with Bernie. He'll never win over people because of the 'socialist' label tagged with him. We see that some people think he's really going to attack freedoms and think he's an actual commie and for those people, he'll never win.

One thing he does have going for him on that front though? It's what Van Jones said the other day, the term 'socialist' just doesn't have the weight or power it used to behind it because the GOP has been throwing that word around a lot at any competition from the left. Bernie is the only one to wear it proudly and I think that does help more than say being one and denying it...that just makes you look like a liar. Trump is going to get on stage, call Bernie a socialist and he's going to shrug and go on about how Denmark is a wonderful country and don't you want healthcare?

This doesn't even count that younger generations are not scared by socialist policies at all.

Then there is a the Trump effect, has he burned enough voters with his toxicity that enough will stay home or not vote for him?

I think it's exactly like you said, no one has any idea what will happen.

It could very well be that Biden wins South Carolina and starts to get competitive and wins the nomination and that there isn't enough energy behind him to go against Trump.

I agree wholeheartedly. You already know that's the game plan and Trump sees it as his easiest path, judging by his nickname for Bernie - Crazy.

They're going to spin this as Bernie is going to double or triple your taxes, take away guns, limit your income, and that passing M4A is impossible. They'll say that he will increase the national debt by some astronomical amount. They'll say he's going to let people into the country without so much as stopping their car, or asking to see documentation (my in laws believe this is true of all Democrats already). They'll say he's going to hand illegals high paying jobs once he ups the minimum wage.

Obviously an averaged IQ'd individual will see through this. Problem is, I'm afraid for how many people are dumb enough not to be able to see through this. It may be enough to create a landslide victory. Maybe not. If it's a landslide, we're in deep, deep trouble.

It’s just a terrible time to have a fight for the “ soul of the party” which is what is currently happening.

I’m not as anti progressive as I come off, I just know America and it’s “fears” and “insecurities”.

Yes, when that happens with stealing it from Bernie again. The Dems will lose those voters again. Rinse and repeat.

So far the only Hispanic friends of mine that will not vote for Trump is mainly because they have a DACA recipient as a current spouse. That is it. Only reason.
