Kerr was GM in Phoenix while D'Antoni was innovating the Suns with Steve Nash and company.
Kerry merely stole the playbook and used it when it he was made coach at GSW. Plain and simple.
He should get no credit for the concept, but credit for using it
effectively with the personnel they had (2 great 3 point shooters in Curry and Thompson)

Yeah I know, I definitely agree with you. The reason why their small ball line worked so well is because Durant was a 7 ft that helped protect the rim..

I guess it depends on what your definition of "small" is. Kukoc was something like 6'9"-6'10", but wasn't a traditional center. The Celtics in the 70's had "small ball" with Dave Cowens in the middle, but was he really "small"? lol.

But I think the most important thing to keep an eye on is how long this lasts. It's been used by several teams sporadically, but I'm not sure anybody's said "this is is how we'll play" for an entire season or anything. We'll see if this will stick or not. I know D'Antoni's said in the past the more guard, the merrier, but does anybody know this is a Mike D. thing or a Morey thing?

BTW, a respectful nod to Don Nelson who helped invent/promote both the "point forward" position (along with Del Harris and the Rockets) and "small ball" decades ago.

I think the Warriors before Kerr ran the small ball, the team that beat that "Great" Mavs team of 2007. They were first in pace. But D'antoni was already doing his thang' way before that.

I said he helped protect the rim that’s why he almost avg 2 blocks when he was with the warriors...

Also Mike D'Antoni did a lot of small ball in Phoenix too, and Don Nelson used to do it too.

Warriors can take credit for small ball and Darryl morey need to sign warriors staff to replace retired Mike d'antoni!

Rick Carlisle actually won with small ball but first ballot hall of famer 'dirk' had alot to do with Mavs championship!
