There is no lob target in the middle any more. There is no need to take those extra dribbles and seconds to play “chess” with the opponent. Do what Wes does, attack immediately and relentlessly. Right now he ends up shooting the step back threes so often that makes his offense predictable. It’s frustrating to see him slow it down to play into the opponent’s hand sometime.

Agree. There was a time where the Step back was better deployed as a surprise quick move and it would catch the opponent off guard. You can always tell when he is about to launch now and the defender knows and is usually ready for it.

The quick jab step back he's been utilising this season more often seems more effective than the drawn out, excessive dribble version. This is what coaching is for though.

Def need a lob threat for him on the floor though when Russ is out. Hopefully Bruno can do something.

pace is the key for small ball line up to succeed. we gotta push the pace. more possessions equals more shots.

Preach. Way too many games this season where he just continues to Jack 3’s while shooting like 10%. It’s a bad look, especially when he was doing so well in the paint. Just dumb basketball.

I agree, the offense is just different now without the lob. He probably needs some time to adjust, but if he brought in the floater last year around this time, then I’m confident he can bring back that deadly mid-range game, when needed. He has to want to, though.

Good Thread...Don't understand why it's cool for WB to shoot the midrange but not Harden? He needs to expand his game, like someone mentioned he's too predictable now. Go back to shooting a j @ the elbow and what happened to the floater? Harden is off, he doesn't seem decisive and is probably low-key hating being the second fiddle right now.

Dream was 31 and 32 when he won his championships...Harden still has time. Granted, not much more time, but a couple more years.

He simplified it big time. It's shoot step back 3, drive or draw foul. It works because defenders know whats coming and he still gets busy. But at some point you need counters. This is why his bad moments in his career look really bad. He has no counters and/or is stubborn. Still an all time great but he has to diversify.

he will have to. The whole premise of small ball is to empty the lane so WB and him can attack. If he just keeps jacking up threes and miss them, we are not going to win too many games because of our size. Now I know some one is going to bring the long rebound theory, but my eye test tells me that he shoots such an arc that most of his misses don’t travel far from the rim. It does not help that he doesn’t get back on long misses quicker enough.

I think he could be deadly with a step back from free throw line after driving. Mitchell killed us doing just that.

James and Russ need to take the challenge of trying to lead the league in paint points

    Limit Russ to 2 3's a game
and the rest of the team about 5 each
    unless they rolling

The beard need to realize that…he is no longer blamed for incompetence as a leader any more, cuz now russ is the captain and top volume scorer of this team.
The beard is a legit C now, just shutup and go setting screen, grabbing rebound, and defending your man in the paint.

I agree here. A little evolution is in the deck of cards.
