Rockets to potentially protest game?

There is no way any team in this league should accept points being taken away when the ball officially goes through the hoop for said points. Every team should and would fight it if they were in the rockets same position.

If the NBA dismisses the rockets protest, it will set a very bad precedent.

Being a rockets fan it’s hard to say this but I feel sorry for the spurs, they fought hard for what they think is a win, they deserve the win due to their fight. But at the end of the day, rules are rules regardless of score and time left, those 2 points should be counted

If this challenge win, the next should be KD out of bounds case.

Anyone saying "they really should be focusing on the way they played after that call" or "we deserved to lose giving up a 22pt lead" or "this loss has nothing to do with the officials" seriously need to stfu and realize that it's not just one or the other.

The Rockets can realize their failings (practice, apply knowledge to future games and situations) AND protest.

The loss didnt have EVERYTHING to do with the officials, but that doesnt mean they had NOTHING to do with it.

Yes, we shouldn't have blown a lead, but Houston also has a remarkably good case on an egregious missed basket in a game that ended within that fg point total. Open your minds.

The impacts of this are larger than one game
in fact it is about THE GAME . . . this is almost a Donaghy Moment
or rather it is slippery slopes and benefits of the doubts like this that allowed Donaghy to happen
"Oh the refs made 'honest mistakes'"
"It's on the players not the refs"

If this happens in the playoffs . . . .is it a play on?
If this cost the rockets the #4 seed. . . now they lost home court because of it
What about the Degenirate gamblers that lost money

It would open pandoras box if every possible out of bounds/backcourt missed call could result in a replayed game. There's a difference between judgement calls or missed calls relating to "possible" points, and taking away a clean basket for absolutely no reason and then refusing to review it when asked.

It really puts on full display just how hated the Rockets are nationally. This is indefensible, yet the majority of opinions are about the blown lead or all of Harden's free throws and how this is just more Rockets whining. None of which have anything to do with the simple fact of refs arbitrarily taking away an undisputed basket.

They’ve got 14 hours to decide whether they will file a protest which they will eventually lose.

If dismissed take it to the courts.

Rockets lawyer: Mr Stern did James Hardens Dunk go through the hoop legally?

    Stern: Yes

Rockets lawyer: That means James Harden scored 2 points?

    Stern: Yes

Rockets Lawyer: That means The Rockets scored 2 more points than the Spurs?

    Stern: Yes

Rockets Lawyer: So that means the rockets win right?

    Stern: No

    Rockets Lawyer: Why not?

    Stern: China

    Judge: Case dismissed

Adam Silver is the commissioner of the NBA and like Stern, was an attorney. I’m holding on to hope that he will see the argument from a legal perspective and make a historic and unprecedented ruling but it’s just not going to happen. Just like the 2 minute review, the NBA will admit fault and move on.

It was clearly a made field goal and you are telling me not one referee saw that?

I would have been pretty sure that they would have at least counted the field goal and reviewed it if it counted later like how they check 3 pointers...

Its really ridiculous how the rockets keep getting the craziest calls, the mavs playoffs games... the warriors plays off games... just crazy.

The league should rule that the two teams be required to play a 5 minute game with the score reset to 0-0. If that doesn't work they should be required to play an additional 5 minute game immediately after with the score once again reset. If the Rockets still lose, they should find any excuse they can to protest the amended games. And so on.

as we come upon the deadline, tilman is currently biting his nails pondering whether to unclutch the palm full of 100 100's for silver, or to just stuff em back under his mattress

Never forget, a made basket being counted as a score when the ball goes through the hoop and clears the net is so definitive in basketball, when a guy accidentally scores on his own goal, refs scramble to give it to the closest opposing player.

If scores were "judgment calls" like some of the posters here think and a majority of the sports is saying, what is stopping refs from taking points away off these accidents?

If it goes in, IT MUST BE COUNTED!

You nailed it and to be honest Harden should've shot around 30 free throws. The charges that where called where not charges. I don't think they where necessarily fouls but if you made me pick one they where closer to fouls than charges. He still missed Tucker in the corner wide open though.
