If there is to be a Love trade come December - February, I would bet it is Gordon and Capela outgoing, not Gordon and Tucker. It would be a salary match, keeping us under the tax, and Love would start games at center.

 

We can't trade Gordon this season,

i think we have to make that trade if its the best one we can get...if not, portland, lakers or someone else will scoop him up. Even if we take a step back this year and add more talent this summer, we probably have to do it. We need a stretch 5 bad and can always add another center and forward this summer....

only problem is love's injury history.

 

First of all, anytime part of your plan is "trade late second-rounders for under-25 guys who will be key rotation pieces", you're making a pretty big leap. Our second rounders are going to be 50 or worse for several years, whereas Noel/Okafor are real quality NBA bench bigs right now. I don't see them being traded to us for nothing but bottom-of-the-barrel draft picks.

I'm not against the general idea of acquiring Love, but specifically giving up Capela to do so is really doubling down on what we're already bad at. It's one thing if Love is playing a lot of PF, but if you fail at your plan to get Okafor and Noel for nothing, which you will, we're stuck with 30+ minutes of Love or Tucker at the 5.

 

i think if we make that love trade we are essentially playing for next year when gordon can be traded and we can add more talent in free agency....CC needs to be moved for a quality starter even if it leaves holes on the team....

we need to trade him for a forward or center and if we trade for love we'd just be playing small ball all season.
