Id actually like to see the lineup numbers to see if Harden and Paul really cant play with one another, im not saying you're wrong but id like to check. And yes he can defend, our defense gets better with Paul on the court. He can also shoot, he just had a down year, the problem is that hes not a.....well he has a very slow shot so his catch and shoot with Harden is not ideal. I dont think having slashers and cutters around to open up the offense for him is too much to ask. Its not like guys who shoot cant cut.

So going back to Harden and role players? Or do you mean there is a chance to adding a star here?

This is an absolutely ridiculous rumor. Lauri Markkanen is the guy the Bulls are building around. And they are in the midst of a full rebuild. Why in the world would they even want an over the hill superstar to team up with very young guys like Wendell Carter and Zach Lavine? Makes zero sense.

That said, I'd do it in a heart beat.

Just go back and pick any game that Harden and CP3 played together and watch the guy without the ball when they are on the court together. One or the other is contributing little to the possession.

I don't think you are getting a superstar in return for CP3. The hope is that you get above average players who fit the system and compliment Harden.

Two scenario's -

Miami send Dragic , Olynyk and one of Winslow or J.Johnson.

Dragic replaces Cp3 and is a better fit. Olynyk is the 3 point shooting big everyone wants and the wing player is a definite need / upgrade either way.

LaLakers - Kuzma and ??? you get cap space.

This opens the door to participate in free agency , somewhere around $10-14m. Gives you the Non tax version of the MLE and the BAE before you have to resort to those dreaded veteran minimum contracts. And Kuzma would be a monster in this offense.

This reported Miami trade is similar to the Lakers scenario , you create some cap space while bringing in two young guys who could contribute giving you access to that no tax MLE , BAE and the actual cap space.

You can become a better team and not get a star in return. Its upgrading those other spots and getting more out of what you have than pure talent.
