Why does Gerald Green get a free pass 24/7 while Melo gets banished?

Even if Anthony were willing to publicly accept DNP-CDs or end of the bench role (at least until he and the team can figure out a better way for him to contribute), I'm not sure the Rockets management would be willing to put up with the media circus that would result from it. That's the kind of distraction that can derail the team, even all players involved were willing to play ball.

Green, on the other hand, has shown a willingness to accept any role the team wishes for him to play. Plus, he may be streaky, but he does get hot from the outside once in a while.

somehow Green worked in our system before and gives more effort on defense.

Plus you can DNP Green whenever and he will still come out to play his hardest the next time he gets to play. Melo was already having issues with losing minutes to Clark

GG is a soldier! he's willing to accept any roles given.
melo has that huge arse ego..he's only thinking for himself, ain't good for a team environment.

Gerald Green gives everything he gots all game on both sides of the floor. Knows nothing will be given to him... everything must be earned. Comes from humble beginnings.

Green is a Consummate Professional and will retire a Rocket.

    Melo will retire as well.

    Green gives us swagger
    Melo gave us hormone issues

On court Melo is still a much player than Green but Green is a better teammate. The team is together all the time as they travel and practice. Remember we only see the games. IMO, putting all the information together. Melo is very high maintenance and requires personal care => takes from the team. Green seems ready to fight for the team. Which one do want to be around remember their team role is very limited and easily replaced.

Because Gerald Green is fine with getting a DNP-CD while an undrafted rookie plays ahead of him and Melo isn't. Has zero to do with production and everything to do with willingness to accept their role.

This--exactly this--was my point. Thanks for stating it more concisely.

As much as I hoped that melo would somewhat help this team he hasn't and he's moving on.

Seeing how the team is playing now who cares about melo, the areas of need now are things melo doesn't do.

Also his departure I don't believe has anything to do with stats but more of him not fitting in our system.

The fact is, even if Melo doesn't cry himself, the media come in to cry for him. That's why distraction follows Carmelo Anthony.

If Melo has the attitude of Gerald Green, he'd still be with the team. I hate to repeat this. But I've said it before. Melo should be used in the GG role. Let him come in and shoot. If he's hot, great. If he's not, sit him down. Melo just doesn't fit that kind of role.

Green wouldn’t mind if Gary Clark is ahead of him in the rotation or not. Green wouldn’t mind if he gets a DNP or not. Even he gets no minutes, he still cheer for his teammate on the sideline. Melon can’t do it. That’s the difference. It’s not we don’t want Melo first, it’s Melo can’t accept his role.

We don't know what was happening behind the scenes with Melo. No one at this point is saying anything negative about the other party, but there may be some issues we don't know about.

As for Green. He knows his role. The Rockets know his role. He's a fringe rotation player playing on a small salary. His job is to catch the ball and shoot. Some nights he plays and some nights he doesn't. Everyone seems to be happy with the arrangement.

I don't think Melo is ready to be a Gerald Green type of role player.

It's funny how ppl still cling to melo when the results speak clearly, what are we 6 wins in 8 since melo sat?melo is attrocious defencively, the guy's lateral movement is nonexistent and morey isn't stupid. You guys need to realize morey would have seen statisticslly melo doesn't fit with the team or he wouldn't have cut the experiment so quickly. As much as melo has been a professional in all of this you guys need to get over melo he aint coming back.

Gerald Green knows and accepts his role and he comes out playing 100% every time. Melo wouldn't accept a role commensurate with his current skill level...hell he was upset about coming off the bench at all and his skill level is middle to end of the bench quality player.
