Dodgers slight favorites to knock off Astros in World Series

    http://www.espn.com/chalk/story/_/i...all-favorites-win-world-series-houston-astros

The Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series favorites, but not by much.

The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas has opened the Dodgers as -140 favorites to beat the Houston Astros in their best-of-seven series that begins Tuesday in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers are in the World Series for the first time since 1988 and will face a Houston team that rallied back from a 3-2 series deficit in the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees. The Astros beat the Yankees 4-0 on Saturday night in Game 7 of the ALCS to advance to the franchise's second World Series.

The Dodgers and Astros were expected to contend this season but were not considered the top favorites in either league.

The Dodgers began the year at 10-1 to win the World Series and were the second favorites, behind the Chicago Cubs, in the National League. The Dodgers defeated the Cubs in the National League Championship Series.

The Astros began the year at 12-1 to win the World Series, and they knocked off the Boston Red Sox and Yankees to win the American League pennant.

    _______

Man Vegas is stupid. We got this.

Haha, my thread title calls them the "odgers" by mistake. I like this mistake.

The odgers have an awfully complete team. Making them the slight favorites would be pretty much exactly what I would make it.

    2 heavyweights going at it.

    Mistake equals premonition...

No D means odger errors-mistakes and arvish definitely gets smoked.

Are you trying to tell me that Yasiel Puig is going to commit 5 errors?

what can the dodgers do to us in L.a that the yankees haven't done. I'll say this much, astros will be batting higher than .091 in that stadium.

I hated the 81 Dodgers. Garvey, Cey, Russell, Baker, Guerrero, Scioscia, Kenny Landreaux.

Who are the obvious hate figures this time, I guess Puig, Turner for starters?

There's nothing to hate. We're going to win and forget about them.

What is a dodger anyways? A draft dodger? A dodge ball player?

I went to thesaurus.com to see what they thought.

dodger (n) person who fools others

    synonyms:

    charlatan
    con artist
    crook
    hypocrite
    impostor
    rascal
    rogue
    swindler
    trickster

Sounds about like Los Angeles to me.

    Houston >>>>> LA

it's from the Brooklyn Dodgers days.

Brooklynites were side-stepping / dodging trolley cars

Actually, Josh Reddick played for the Dodgers last season, for ~~ 2 months

a dead give-away that you've never been to LA, where there are fan clubs for the Houston Rockets and Dallas Cowboys,
but none for the Astros nor Mavericks

I don't disagree with the assesment. On paper the Dodgers are the superior team. On paper that is.

Cool. LA sucks. The entire city has a blanket of smog hovering over it like a misty virus. Don't be fooled by the post cards.
