Rockets fans get so pissed if anyone says anything other than what benefits us. I can see melo giving in and saying he'll go to Cleveland.

I can also see him saying... you don't want to help me get to Houston why the f*** should help you get kyrie and have to deal with another dysfunctional organization.

    We'll see what happens

And what is also kind of contradictory is why would he request the Spurs who have Leonard and their system type offense and the Wolves who have Butler and Townes if he wants to be the man. Lebron is one of the best passers in the game over all those guys and very unselfish. Makes you wonder if Erving is angling for a new contract.

If I were writing this novel, it ends with Melo coming to Houston, and everyone being horribly disappointed with the result.

(not saying I want this -- just that it feels like where the story would go, given all the hype)

I can see Melo expanding his teams for the NTC beyond Houston later but no way he wants to go to Cleveland now. Cleveland without Irving is essentially the worst possible destination for Melo. All the dysfunction of the Knicks with none of the perks of being in New York. And it's a team he has no chance to stay and keep getting a big paycheck beyond next year.

Report: Melo 'focused on' move to Rockets amid Irving trade rumors
    Victoria Nguyen Jul 22, 2017 11:13 AM
Carmelo Anthony isn't trying to get aboard a sinking ship.

The New York Knicks forward is reportedly ready to move on from his hometown team and would be willing to waive his no-trade clause to join the Cleveland Cavaliers or Houston Rockets.

A move to the former had gained much more traction lately - that is, until reports emerged Friday that Kyrie Irving asked the Cavaliers to trade him and named New York as a preferred destination.

While the Knicks are believed to be discussing a deal that would send Anthony and future first-round picks to Cleveland, the 33-year-old is "focused on" going to Houston instead, a source told New York Daily News' Frank Isola late Friday.

With his no-trade clause, Melo can veto a move to the Cavs and continue to push for a trade to the Rockets. He's so set on the move that he's reportedly open to waiving his $8-million trade kicker to help make it happen.

It's not difficult to understand why he'd want to reunite with head coach Mike D'Antoni in Houston and play with fellow stars Chris Paul and James Harden, who recruited Anthony in Paris last month. The roster is expected to contend, even in the Wild West, which is more than can be said for the Cavaliers if they lose Irving and possibly LeBron James afterward.

Related: Irving's exit would kick-start Cavs' downfall

Complications, though, stem from Houston's lack of desirable assets to give up in a potential Melo trade. As such, the club has reportedly been working on a multi-team swap in order to land the 10-time All-Star.

Related: Harden says Melo would help Rockets tremendously

Anthony averaged 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists last season in the Big Apple. He has one guaranteed year left on his contract that will see him earn $26.2 million in 2017-18.

He has the Rockets' full attention, and they apparently have his.

He wants to get away from the drama that comes with being lebron's teammate at this point more than anything. He's looking out for himself rather then having to wait and see what lebron does who we all know basically has control over so much. Leave before you get left. Not everyone wants to be his follower and it's good to see

At this point I don't think he expands his list, I think it'll remain at 1 team.

I'm sure Lebron is telling Melo. Save yourself and go by Cp3 beard.

Lebron has 2 options next year. Paycut to Houston or make more millions / lose in La for the rest of his career.

Lebron also throws his teammates under the bus too often. He wants to be player/gm & call all the shots, but when the team loses its "dont look at me i averaged a triple double". The reason the Cavs even won their championship is because of KYRIE'S shot over Steph. Kyrie takes most the clutch shots and has the ball in his hands w/ the game on the line. But yet Lebron wants to take ALL the credit for their success (and the media gives it to him) but blames teammates when they lose

I can definitely see why Kyrie would want out

Lebron is going to LA. Dude already has titles. At this point he could win 2 more titles, he still wouldn't be considered the goat. MJ will and always be the goat because he never lost in the Finals.

Lebron is 32 and past his prime, he is focused on becoming a billionaire at this point of his career. He is going to LA to make money and expand his business.

Being a loser in LA doesn't really do anything for him.

He'd be better off just retiring
