Thanks for sharing -- good stuff. I can't tell if it's truly confirmed the nerve gas (or maybe just the components?) came from the UK.

He's totally correct that we've divided the world into countries we can imagine bombing and countries we cannot imagine bombing.

The Portishead blast was perhaps my favorite bit of his routine.

I like Teju much better now than I did after finishing his first book, which I thought wasn't very well written.

We don't even know anything! I still think it is more plausible that the Al Qaeda people used the nerve gas, because they are the only ones who had motivation to do it!

It's extremely unlikely that Al Qaeda somehow got into Syrian govt. controlled area in order to launch the attacks. We know they where they were launched from.

But the piece from Cole was really good.

 

If it was government controlled, why would the government gas the people?

 

i haven't read the piece yet, the one thing that gets me is the reporting of 100K deaths as if it is all on the gov't side.

ron paul was on alex wagner's show and was saying that the media does this on purpose, he is still a quack but at some point it is hard to argue with him.

 

The area was rebel controlled, and as Deji said they probably didn't have an idea with enough precision as to what would happen.

There was also communication showing a Senior Syrian regime official saying that Syria used the chemical weapons and being afraid of them getting found out.

That kind of intel would not really be possible if Al Qaeda had done it.

If AQ did it, why would the government then bomb the area, destroying evidence, and then wait 5 days to let UN inspectors in?

 

Well the intel is what the intel is.

 

And why would a high ranking Syrian official talk about the chem attack coming from Syria and be worried about it being found out.

I think there's little doubt that Assad's govt. was responsible.

What exactly IS the intel? Is it really sufficient to get into this war? Also, as the cartoon posted by rhad implies: 100k people have been killed (by BOTH sides), now all of a sudden the USA need to get into it?

 

I'm not necessarily in favor of getting into the war. I also don't think limited missile strikes is really the same as getting into the war. The intel the U.S. has includes that of a top Syrian official talking about the chem weapon attacks coming from the govt. and him being worried about it getting found out.
