The thing that separates Rose is his incredible will power, concentration, and confidence. He's almost on the level of a prime Kobe in those categories. He makes "lucky" shots but it's not luck, if that makes sense. He's a better passer than what I saw from him this year....I think Thibs system encourages moving the ball around and letting other guys create because he did a lot of that this year as well as a lot of chucking. Also Rose and Monta might be the same height but when you look at Rose on the court against guys with similar height, he really kinda dwarfs them with his long arms and wide frame. I do like Monta's game, but Rose is MVP for a reason.

He shot 43% for the year, so it wasn't anything crazy. The reason he got so hyped was b/c he played for Chicago, and that team exceeded EVERYBODY's expectations as most thought they would be a 6th seed. And he was pretty damn pathetic for most of the playoffs. If he played on any other team that wasn't a dominant defensive/rebounding team, he would be considered a Monta Ellis.

But he is still better than Monta b/c he is a better playmaker and penetrator. Monta is not that far behind though in terms of skills/talent.

His relative plus/minus is very bad. I've seen some games. The team seems to do better with him on the bench.

I think part of the problem is that they have 2 small guards and just get killed defensively.

Monta Ellis is a bit fools' gold in my opinion. Would be a great sixth man on a contending team.

Good defenders on the Rockets= Lowry, Hayes.
Worst defender on the Rockets = Kevin Martin.

    Coincidence? Don't think so.

Actually Monta improved a lot this year in terms of plus/minus after being the worst in the NBA two years ago.

Rose was only decent in relative plus/minus compared to other superstars

Monta is one of those players who sometimes look like all-stars and sometimes look like they are destroying your franchise.

See Iverson, Melo, Baron Davis, Al Jefferson, Rashard Lewis, Rodney Stuckey, Ron Artest, etc.

Every player you just named was All-Star caliber in their prime... With exception of stuckey...Ellis is wayyyy better than Stuckey has ever been..

    Yeah, hype

Rose was nowhere near ready to be the MVP this season, yeah he had the intangibles part down but his offensive game needs a lot of work, and his defense was really just average last season. HOllinger basically called out Bill SImmons and basically everybody else who had Rose over DH as the MVP as falling for the hype rather than voting for the better player, and the playoffs proved him right. Dude shot something like 4% in the 4rth quarter or something.
