Likely but nice moment ..if we could all hug those we ideologically oppose. What a better world this would be
I mean we are on the same team. We just generally have different strategies for the next quarter and try to persuade others our view is right and should be followed. When there is too much disagreement, we lose the quarter. When there is no strategy, we get blown out. And that’s why I haven’t seen my parents since before March.
The truth is these people are all largely friends and friendly with each other. Their opposition is theater. Its a club for rich and powerful people enabled and maintained by a constitutionally protected duopoly. The only real conflict we ever see is intra-party.
I’m pretty good friends with and have family whi are Trumpers that have some pretty repulsive views. I’ve hugged plenty of them before. That being said DiFi is a relic of the past and is too weak of a political to deal with what the Republican Party is going to be moving forward. Also her insider trading should be a career killer. If she decides to run again my guess is she’ll pretty easily be beat in a primary.
I said it was a sad event, I just hope she’s at peace knowing a great qualified justice will replace her that was nominated by Trump. Namaste and hugs to you as well
it’s a little game he likes to play...say some vile sh*t in 1 thread, and then in the next claim all he wants is hugs and peace...he has zero character and is a terrible person...Idk why he thinks anyone is falling for his little charade
If I tried to hug T_J, I would dissolve as if bathed in the blood of a xenomorph. But a good sentiment. Very Sam Cooke-ish.
That point of view was solidified for me during the house impeachment proceedings when they issued subpoenas without sending the Sergeant at arms to arrest those who didn’t appear. Its a big club...
I said this in a post about the Jamie Harrison V Lindsey Graham debate that a question was about bipartisanship and Graham said "Democrats are nuts" while Harrison talked about his longtime friendship with the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party. As that shows Graham has had long standing friendships with many on the other side of the aisle. He calls Joe Biden one of his best friends and Biden says the same. It's just sad that Graham couldn't acknowledge that in the debate and has to stay in attack mode.
That's where your "Trump is a conman" theory is the weakest. The clown is a liar and grifter, but in no way are the voters "conned". He arose out of several individual rounds of primaries across the nation with the filthiest of rhetorics and the "nastiest" of attitudes. Donny read the sentiment the Republican base had and dragged it further right, so right that it isn't even `alt-right` anymore, rather legitimised Trumpism with 80% Republican support. If they lose badly in Nov, more Bush shamnesia from a wrecked economy and balance sheet...20T debt!!!!...will crop up in the following years... Even if it sounded "reasonable", there's no way for Lindsay to counter what you wrote in order to court the 10% remaining on the table. Lindsay in SC, would lose much more for it. As for who's playing the music, it's an ouroboros of Trump, Con punditry, and the mouth breathers themselves. Out of state dark PAC money primaries out the moderates or "oathbreakers", so radicalism is the New Normal. Trump just assumed a role Palin couldn't.
