I would definitely be concerned about Bieniemy being another O'Brien. Just in the sense that O'Brien's reputation as an OC and QB guru came from working with Brady in New England. In hindsight, it seems like that had everything to do with Belichick and Brady and very little to do with O'Brien. O'Brien hasn't had a good offense since he left the Patriots.

With the way the McNairs have run this franchise, the next head coach will be Jason Garrett.

    Our defense is pathetic.
Invest draft capital in D, bring in a stud receiver like Allen Robinson.

Watson can make up for a lack of talent up to a certain point on offense. Cut all the skill position players we brought in last offseason, re-tool with guys who can fit our new OC’s scheme.

What? I haven't heard that. All his players love him (especially Deshaun). Going to need some legit proof on that.

I'm cool with Eric B as coach too btw but that's quite an accusation

The primary goal of this next coach should be to unlock and maximize whatever Watson's potential is. If the Panthers offense does well this year (especially during this stretch without McCaffery), I'd take a serious look at Joe Brady. He'll have had success with 3 different QBs and systems, 2 in the NFL and one insane season at LSU. The LSU season he had a huge talent advantage everywhere; in New Orleans, he had Brees/Payton as a backstop. But Carolina seems like it would be all him.

No retreads please. I'd much rather take a chance on a college coach. I'd be okay with a coordinator from another NFL team too.

I want the Texans to have a head coach that shows some energy and passion in the locker room and on the sidelines. Someone that you can tell is having fun and wants the players to succeed.

Definitely worried about Eric Bieniemy at HC.
Billy O coached one of the great offenses of all time in N.E.
    All Brady & Belichik though!
Belichik's proteges have proven that just being on the staff of a great Head coach doesn't make you great (BoB, Weiss, Mangini, Crennel, Patricia).
Worried Bieniemy may just be on Reid's staff atm.

Love Dabo as a leader and a man, but worried he may be a "Saban".
It's easy to coach when you have superior players at most every position.

Don't really want Saleh, but not because he's a defensive guy.
Just that he's got an abundance of riches in San Fran.
Now give me the guy SELECTING all that talent as gm (Lynch) and I'll be happy.
Also I really want a "Lilttle Shanny" type (young offensive wunderkid) as our next coach.
Would they take our 3rd next year for a Lynch/Shanahan package? :)

    Daboll sounds interesting.
I do wonder though if it's him or just Josh Allen maturing that's making the difference in Buffalo.
That's another team that's got a real good talent base.

Lincoln Riley would be great, and the best thing is that he would KNOW he needed to get an experienced def. coordinator and leave him alone.
Would take a LOT of money though.

At GM Dorsey had a pretty good run of drafting back with the chefs but a few lean years since.
I wouldn't mind an Eliott Wolf/Alonzo Highsmith package, but Wolf has been passed over for gm by organizations that knew him before so that gives me a little pause.

    I guess for me it's:

    HC
    1. Lincoln Riley
    2. Brian Daboll

    GM
    1. John Dorsey
    2. Eliott Wolf

    Someone mentioned Sean Payton.
If Brees retired at the end of the year maybe he'd like a new start somewhere.
    Wonder when his contract's up.

I don't really care about "offensive guy" vs "defensive guy". Just because the HC has experience on one side doesn't mean the other side has to suffer. Belichick was a DC. Pete Carroll was a DC. Mike Tomlin was a DC. John Harbaugh was a ST coordinator. O'Brien was an OC and look where that got us.

Give me the best coach. Period. A good coach will surround themselves with other good coaches instead of buddies. A good defensive minded coach should hire a good OC and let him do his thing and vice versa.

The Texans need to revamp their front office as much as their coaching staff. The have a poor record since the inception of the franchise in finding talent outside of the first round and scouting players to pick up in free agency. I want an experienced person to help select the front office, revamp the entire football operations and have that person hire the coach. No more committee selection nonsense. Easterby, remember, was on board for all of O'Brien's garbage moves at the time.

Having said all this, I hope they would rehire Chris Olsen, who had a reputation of being an excellent contract negotiator. They are suddenly in a precarious cap position moving forward after being in a good position only a couple of years ago.
