This is our future first Rd pick situation.
    2020 No 1st Rd pick
2021 We get the worst of the OKC, Miami and our pick.
    2022 We get our pick
    2023 We get our pick
    2024 No 1st Rd pick
2025 We get the worst of OKC & our pick
    2026 No 1st Rd pick

2024 to 2026 we cannot suck

    The way I see it.
We can run it back 1 more year then rebuild or go for the safer option of rebuilding now.

If we suck in 2024 - 2026 and don't have our picks then we are desperate for free agents or being terrible for 5-7 years.

Picks are top 3 protected. So if we suck we need to really suck.

Trade tucker and sign me to the minimum. Same size and can hit the three at a better rate. Lol free up some money for a quality player

Seems like the time to tank will be after this coming season, especially if our Harden/Westbrook dump can net us a good 2021 pick.

James Harden for the next 5 years. After that...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    2016: Traded for Ty Lawson
    2017: Traded for Lou Williams
    2018: Traded for Chris Paul
    2019: Traded for Iman Shumpert
    2020: Traded for Robert Covington

Is it really that dire? They haven't had a pick the last 5 years. They have a pick 4 of the next 6 years. (though not tradeable)

2021: Worst of the OKC, Miami & our pick
    2022: Own pick
    2023: Own pick
    2024: Traded for Russell Westbrook
2025: Worst of OKC & our pick
    2026: Traded for Russell Westbrook

if you blow it up now there's a good chance we will suck in 2024 and 2026.

best thing you can do is hope harden signs a 3 year extension through 2026 so we stay in the playoffs. maybe let Westbrook walk after his contract is up and use the cap space to bring in some depth around James on 3 year deals.

basically we have a championship window that's closing and will shut in 2-3 years as James goes from top 3 player in the league to top 10. after that we just want to extend mediocrity for 3 more years. then tank.

So only until Tilman has to sell the team to make his loan payments.

Too bad our front office never had a backup plan when we went all in for Westbrook.

Just enjoy the regular season and watch LeMao and the bandwagon Fakers win a couple more rings.

We haven’t had decent picks for like 20 years.

Dan House signed off FA is better than every pick we have made since Yao Ming back in 2002 or whatever. :D:D:D

Don’t sweat the damn picks so much while we have James and Russ.

"The Rockets traded 4 picks for Westbrook!"

JR, thanks for clearly outlaying the obligations.

The lack of picks doesn’t hurt us much. Whenever it is that Houston has to cash in on Westbrook and/or Harden, Gordon, Covington, Tucker even...these guys will bring back those picks. Rebuild just likely to last longer since a bit of it has been mortgaged for this team.

Here’s the problem tho. The new lottery the worst odds only secures a top 5 pick. Let’s say we are the worst team in the league. And we end with the 4 or 5 pick. We waste a year. You have to trade harden and Westbrook after a year. Rebuild after next season. If we acquire Kevin Love u try not to give up any first round picks. Then after a year if that implodes you trade all 3 players for as much draft capital as possible so u rebuild 2022-2023 by 2024 even if it’s a late lottery pick it isnt as bad

So embarrassing the Lakers made it to the finals before the Rockets did. The 2010s were a down decade for the Lakers and they still made it back to the finals for a chance at winning it all
