The Dem Governors throw a huge roadblock into the process...I also saw a number of the GOP legislature in Florida and the Attorney General there also say there's no chance anything along these lines would happen there. Actually, during the transition, Obama set Trump up to be falsely accused of colluding with Russia, set in motion the process of a Special Counsel investigation, and actively encouraged bureaucrats throughout DC agencies to resist the Trump Administration's initiatives. It was the sleaziest and ugliest transition of power in our country's history. Obama set in motion an attempted coup in the days in between the Nov 2016 election and the inauguration.
Agreed. however , a scenario that does worry me is not Trump causing chaos by succeeding in not stepping down .. it’s the chaos his supporters can create when he takes to Twitter .

It's a high probability event that Trump will try, it's a lower probability that he will be successful, but if he is successful it is effectively the end of the United States of America. We don't do well with judging low probability/catastrophic events.
This is one area that I do agree with you. If it is successful then voting doesn't matter. At that point the only real check is manning the barricades and warming up our voices for "Can you hear the people sing?" I really don't think it will get there. I think this being successful is a very very small probability.
I don't understand why y'all are focusing so much on the administration getting individual states to change EC votes when Trump has been telegraphing his moves for months. He's been prepping and priming his followers for months about fraudulent mail-in votes. He will, of course, invoke this again on election day/week, ad nauseum. He will call on multiple state AGs, governors, whoever, to purge/stop counting mail-in ballots in order to "save" the election. I predict at least a couple in swing states will obey. It will go to the courts (both sides are prepping lawyers for this fight in most states as we speak.) Trump has already tipped his hand by saying they'll need the SCOTUS to protect or decide the election. It is the administrations' plan to purge, throw out, or simply stop counting mail-in ballots. This will be challenged, it will go to the SCOTUS (remember 2000?), where Trump will rely on 5 out of 9 justices to hand the presidency to him. The guy could win the EC fair and square, but he's not gonna wait and see.
On election day Trump will declare, as he already has dozens of time without basis or evidence, that mail in ballots are fraudulent. This is going to happen. His sycophants are prepping teams of lawyers to defend and cover the illegal things that they plan to do with the ballots; that's within the paradigm of the election and counting votes. Outside of that paradigm, is the option of simply leaking out bits of misinformation. For example, the president retweets a post that claims that BLM protestors are blocking a voting station in Phoenix, or Lansing, or wherever... and that loyalists must make a show of force.

Libs are very frustrated that they face long odds if this election ends up in a legal battle, similar to 2000. Remember in 2000, we waited 30+ days for a final answer. People were more civil then. In today's society, where deranged liberals burn down cities when they are upset, I'm not sure our country can handle a full month of election uncertainty. Biden will milk any election uncertainty for all it's worth, fanning the flames of violence, and trying to spin Trump's reelection as illegitimate. Heck, liberals are STILL doing that regarding the 2016 election. How stupid would you have to be to think liberals won't do the same thing in 2020? Of course they will - it's what they do, regardless of the merits... which is why they are out there accusing Republicans of this hypothetical scenario. I think you'd do your self a service by checking out the trove of information being released on the Flynn investigation. One of the reason's Obama didn't want Flynn as NSA is because he'd quickly learn of the FISA scheme they were running on Trump. The scheme who's original source was a Russian spy. Of course he 'warned' him about Flynn.....Flynn knew the details of the Iranian deal that was kept secret from congress. He knows Obama's dirty secrets. He was openly critical of Obama's policies. So where are the Republican riots? There are none. If there were protests they'd be lawful. All this talk of unpeaceful transition is fear mongering and there isn't a single fact to back it up.
